Supercomputer predicts Celtic’s finish in the Europa League main phase.

Celtic will return to competitive action after the international break.

In addition to domestic games, the Europa League will return, with the Hoops looking for their first win in the competition.

Celtic drew with Red Star Belgrade and lost to Braga in their first two games, putting them at a disadvantage initially.

Brendan Rodgers’ side has six league games remaining and must finish in the top 24 to advance to the next phase. But, where does the supercomputer position the Hoops?

Celtic is expected to drop out in the Europa League knockout phase.

According to Opta, Celtic will face more disappointment on the European stage.

Their supercomputer predicts Celtic will finish 26th in the 36-team league phase, with about eight points.

In this system, the top eight teams advance automatically to the knockout stage, while the 16 teams ranked ninth through 24th compete for a play-off position.

Failure to meet that goal would be a crushing setback for the Hoops, with potentially severe long-term ramifications.

Brendan Rodgers could be fired if Opta’s forecast comes true.

There are already questions over Rodgers’ future as Celtic manager, but if the supercomputer is to be believed, the Celtic board may have an easy decision to make.

The 52-year-old’s contract expires in the summer, but failure to finish in the top 24 may easily lead to dismissal.

Domestically, the Hoops have dominated, but this only goes so far with fans.

In the meantime, we can only hope that the supercomputer lied.
