The debate between Frank Lampard and Paul Scholes regarding who is superior has finally been resolved, and Steven Gerrard has finally shared his thoughts on the matter.
During the ‘Golden Generation’ of England, which occurred in the 2000s, the Three Lions were home to some of the most talented midfielders who have ever competed in the Premier League.
The likes of Gerrard, Scholes, and Lampard all played together in an impressive national team that also included players such as Wayne Rooney and David Beckham. At the same time, they were all playing for clubs that were in direct competition with one another throughout their careers.
The fact that they have played for England together has, of course, caused fans of their respective clubs to frequently argue about which of the three greats in the midfield position was the best. However, it would appear that Gerrard himself is aware of the answer.
The three men were extremely successful with their respective clubs, winning some of the most prestigious trophies in football, including the Champions League, despite the fact that they were unable to win a major trophy with England under their collective leadership.
When Gerrard is compared to Scholes and Lampard, one of the arguments that is frequently made against him is the fact that he is the only one of the three who has never won the Premier League, despite coming agonisingly close to winning it in the 2013–14 season.
However, it is evident that the Liverpool legend does not consider this to be something that diminishes his remarkable career. He did not show any reluctance when he placed himself above both of his competitors in a game of “stay silent until you hear a better player.”
This question was posed to Gerrard while he was appearing on the FutCrunch channel. He did not respond to the question.
Is that rice?
Who is Mac Allister?
Is that Bruno Fernandes?
The Lampard?
“Scholes?”
Once Manchester City pair Kevin de Bruyne and Phil Foden were named, Gerrard began to make some murmurs, but after Scholes, he confidently admitted that Real Madrid superstar Jude Bellingham was a better player than him. This occurred after Gerrard had announced that he would be leaving the team.
Commentary from Paul Scholes on the ongoing debate between Gerrard and Lampard
There are three teams that compete in the Premier League, and Gerrard is not the only person who has been asked for his opinion on which of the three teams is the best. Perhaps surprisingly, he agrees with Gerrard.
The fact that Scholes made comments about his former England teammate while he was being interviewed on Rio Ferdinand’s FIVE podcast demonstrates how talented the Liverpool captain was. Scholes made these comments despite the fact that the player was playing for Manchester United’s direct competitors.
In response to the question of which of him and Gerrard was the more talented player, he responded, “I am able to answer that.” It was Gerrard. As a player, Gerrard is exceptional.
Additionally, Scholes stated, “We are different, and we are very different… Athletes are who he is. I believe that he is more of a winner of matches. However, he was participating in a team where he was most likely required to be.
“I was more more of a member of a team. I believe that he was more of an individual. The things that he accomplished at Liverpool are beyond my capabilities. I have no idea if he would have been able to accomplish that at United. I don’t understand why that wouldn’t be the case. On the other hand, I just couldn’t have accomplished what he did at Liverpool.
