They are watching other loanees, notably Spanish midfielder Stefan Bajcetic, who is currently at UD Las Palmas, even though Arne Slot and his team have been vying for trophies in their first season at Liverpool.
The defensive midfielder scored one goal and received five yellow cards in 22 games with the Reds before temporarily leaving for new opportunities abroad. In the summer of 2024, he then joined RB Salzburg, a team in the Austrian first division.
He only survived six months since things didn’t go as planned. He was sent to Spain after returning to Merseyside, and he has since made seven appearances for the team. And in his absence, Liverpool supporters will be wondering just how he’s doing.
Spanish Icon and Bajcetic’s Las Palmas Displays
The Spaniard became a Las Palmas “fan favourite” right away.

The 20-year-old scored his first goal of the season in a 3-1 loss to RDC Mallorca barely two months after jumping ship from England to Spain. Since coming on loan, he has appeared in every league game for Diego Martinez’s struggling team.
The Liverpool academy graduate has faced teams like Girona, Villarreal, Barcelona, Real Valladolid, Real Betis, and Alaves in 2024–25 in an attempt to regain the attention of 46-year-old Slot, who is considered by many to be among the top football managers in the world.
In contrast to the renowned Sergio Busquets, who is regarded as one of the best defensive midfielders in football history, Bajcetic has played 455 minutes in the engine room of Las Palmas and occasionally in the centre of defence when necessary.

He has swiftly gained popularity among the club’s devoted supporters, according to a Daily Mail story. In addition, the young player has been praised for having a “exceptional attitude” and being a “pure talent” as they struggle for relegation.
According to statistics (which are detailed below), he has made six crucial passes from a deep midfield position and has a 73.1% accuracy percentage overall. On defence, he has averaged 1.14 interceptions, 3.57 ball recoveries, and 4.43 duels won per game.

Slot’s Thoughts on Bajcetic’s Loan Spell
‘I think he could become a very important player for us’

Given that Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister have established a relatively formidable partnership in the Liverpool engine room and are consequently playing at their best week after week, it is unclear if he has any chance of returning to Slot’s engine room.
Slot, the manager of Liverpool, wished him luck for his loan trip in August. “I hope it will be a big year for him because he’s a very talented player and I think he could become a very important player for us, but only if he gets playing time now.”
We believe that letting him go somewhere where he can hopefully play a lot of games is a wise move. We will then have a player for the upcoming season. He might very well play for us in the future if he reaches his full potential.
