Spurs rejected by one of their top targets to replace Ange Postecoglou in nightmare scenario for the club

Postecoglou was fired on Friday, only 16 days after leading them to victory in the Europa League final.

Tottenham are looking for a new manager after making the tough decision to fire Ange Postecoglou, but one of their top possibilities has already turned down an approach.

Postecoglou was fired on Friday afternoon, barely 16 days after leading the team to victory in the Europa League final.

Chairman Daniel Levy made a daring decision. According to The Telegraph, Levy is facing the danger of a player mutiny, with certain players wanting to go and Postecoglou’s successor facing ‘a massive assignment to heal the dressing-room damage’.

Spurs, meanwhile, have declared that a replacement for the Australian coach will be unveiled shortly.

Thomas Frank, who has developed Brentford as a Premier League team in recent seasons, is thought to be the front-runner, with Fulham’s Marco Silva and Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola also in the hunt to succeed Postecoglou.

Marseille manager Roberto De Zerbi, on the other hand, has declined an approach from Spurs.

After leading the club to second place in Ligue 1 last season, the Italian is eager to extend his career at the Stade Velodrome as they prepare to compete in the Champions League in 2025/26.

“Tottenham are prepared to advance in talks with leading candidate Thomas Frank in the next days,” claimed Romano. “Spurs also approached Roberto De Zerbi in the recent days, but the Italian head coach rejected as he wants to stay at Olympique Marseille.”

Ange Postecoglou’s emotional statement to Tottenham fans and players after his dismissal
Following his dismissal from the club, Postecoglou issued a forceful statement.

“When I reflect on my time as Manager of Tottenham Hotspur my overriding emotion is one of pride,” according to him.

“The opportunity to manage one of England’s most historic football teams and restore it to its former grandeur will be with me for the rest of my life. Sharing that experience with folks who truly love our club and seeing the impact it had on them is something I will never forget.

“That night in Bilbao marked the end of two years of hard labor, devotion, and unflinching belief in a dream. There were numerous hurdles to overcome, as well as a lot of noise, when attempting to accomplish something that many others believed was impossible.

“We have also established the groundwork for this club’s future victory, which should not take another 17 years. I have a lot of faith in this set of athletes and believe they have a lot of promise and growth ahead of them.

“I genuinely thank the supporters, who are the club’s lifeblood. I know there were some difficult periods, but I always felt like they wanted me to succeed, which gave me the incentive I needed to keep going. It’s vital to recognize the hardworking Spurs employees that encouraged me on a regular basis.

“Finally, I’d like to thank those who have been with me every day for the past two years. A magnificent group of young men who are now football club legends, as well as superb coaches who never doubted our ability to achieve great things.

“We are always connected. Audere est Facere. Ange.”
