Spain star brutally booed and whistled every time he touches the ball against France and fans now know why

There is a reason why supporters jeered a Spain player during the team’s match versus France in the Nations League semifinal.

On Thursday night (June 5), Spain faced France in the Nations League final four in Stuttgart, Germany.

On Sunday, June 8, the victor will advance to the final against Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal, while the loser will play Germany earlier that day for third place.

The competition between Lamine Yamal and Ousmane Dembele for the 2025 Ballon d’Or title was the main topic of discussion going into tonight’s match.

Earlier this week, Yamal, 17, was asked if he had considered the prized accolade.

Yamal told COPE, “I am sure we [Spain] will win on Thursday, but I would still vote for the best player in the world whether we win or not.”

“What if Thursday doesn’t turn out the way Dembele or I want it to? Are you supporting someone else who performs on Sunday? I tend to vote for the player that performs the best during the entire year. However, we can play that game if people wish to stake everything on it.

“I think you will end up badly if you only think about the Ballon d’Or,” he continued. I consider taking home awards. Imagine receiving the Ballon d’Or on my own if I win the UCL and the World Cup the following year. But enjoying football is what matters most.

Nevertheless, neither Yamal nor Dembele received a round of jeers at the MHPArena.

Chelsea and Spain’s left-back When Marc Cucurella touched the ball, the crowd inside the stadium seemed to jeer at him, but there’s a reason why.

At Euro 2024, fans were keen to point out a particular moment.

The left-back seemed to block a shot with his hand during extra time of Spain’s quarterfinal matchup with Germany last summer, but to the chagrin of the home crowd, no penalty was given.

The German fans still remember that day, even though Spain won the match 2-1 courtesy to a late goal from Mikel Merino.

Cucurella told Spanish radio station Cadena Cope, “These are things that happen, I’m not to blame for anything,” after being jeered by German supporters during Spain’s Euro semifinal victory over France.

“I’m not sure what they were hoping to accomplish with it, but it’s the way things stand.

“The most important thing is that we’re in the final, and that’s it.”

Fans shared their opinions on social media on Thursday.

One person exclaimed, “OMG THEY HATE CUCURELLA.”

Another stated: “Germany fans still booing Cucurella 1 year later for this, such an inspiring level of hatred.”

One more person wrote: “I will never get tired of Cucurella hate.”
