Johannes Spors expressed his joy that Southampton have selected Tonda Eckert, 32, as their new First Team Head Coach.
Tonda Eckert, 32, has been appointed as Southampton’s new manager, according to an announcement made within the last hour.
Despite the defeat to Millwall last weekend, Saints Marching announced on Wednesday that Eckert would be available before Saturday’s meeting against Birmingham City.
The club has made an announcement. In a statement sent to the Southampton FC website. The whole announcement is provided below.

Tonda Eckert has accepted a permanent position as Men’s First Team Head Coach at Southampton Football Club, signing a contract until 2027.
Eckert has led the squad to four wins in five games since taking over on an interim basis at the beginning of November, helping the club climb the table and earn a total of 12 points out of 15 available.
Most significantly, the 32-year-old has brought together the playing squad and spectators with a committed, offensive, and entertaining style of play.
Group Technical Director Johannes Spors stated, “I’m thrilled that Tonda has accepted our offer to become the permanent Men’s First Team Head Coach following his interim tenure.
“His empathy with the players and the precision with which he communicates his ideas have been critical to the team’s progress since he took over.
“The great results he has achieved in that time, not just in terms of performances and points, but also in the way he has brought together players and supporters, has shown everyone what he is capable of achieving.”
Tonda Eckert stated, “I’m quite proud. It makes me very pleased to represent this football team. I believe we’ve had a wonderful start, and it’s now up to us to keep it going.
We go all-in; there is no other option. I don’t mind being ambitious and saying that we want to play for promotion, whatever that means in the end. We will take every single point available.”
One solid reason why the appointment may divide admirers.
The hiring may divide Southampton fans, some of whom would have rather that the club choose a more experienced manager at EFL Championship level.
Despite Eckert’s stunning improvement in form and undeniable talent, some fans would have preferred to observe how Eckert’s team reacted to the defeat against Millwall before making the offer.
Southampton fans will undoubtedly support the youthful manager, who faces a difficult task this season. If he leads the club to the top six, he might become a hero on the South Coast.
Saints Marching would like to congratulate Tonda on his new role and wish him the best of luck for the rest of the season.
