Ross Stewart’s contract future at Southampton is uncertain as his agreement expires this summer.
The Scot scored again on Saturday afternoon, leading the Saints to a 1-1 draw at home against Charlton Athletic.
The 29-year-old has five goals in 16 appearances this season, despite suffering from ailments throughout his stint at St. Mary’s.
Stewart has now scored in two consecutive games for Tonda Eckert’s side, as well as in their dramatic 4-3 triumph over Leicester City earlier this month.
The striker joined St. Mary’s from Sunderland during the summer transfer window in 2023, however he has only appeared in 31 league games over the last three seasons.
However, his recent performances have emphasized his value to the Hampshire club as they seek promotion to the Premier League, with his current contract set to end in June but with an option for a further year.
Southampton consider Ross Stewart contract decision.

According to the Daily Echo, the Saints are examining their options for Stewart’s contract.
Southampton are apparently exploring a longer-term contract, possibly two or three years, rather than triggering his 12-month option.
It is reported that the Championship club is willing to offer him a lower salary in exchange for better future stability.
Stewart’s fitness concerns have been well known, and he has struggled to keep his spot in the team over the last three seasons.
However, the forward is still aiming to make his way into Steve Clarke’s plans for the Scotland men’s national team ahead of the World Cup in North America this summer.
It is unknown whether Stewart would be willing to accept a longer-term contract that required him to take a wage reduction, or if he would want to look for a new club at the end of the season.
Eckert has decided not to give the 29-year-old a full 90 minutes, with the 70 minutes he played against Leicester being his longest outing since the German became head coach.
The Saints are currently 11th in the Championship league after a 1-1 draw at home to the Addicks, four points behind sixth-placed Wrexham.
Southampton’s next game comes at home against QPR on Tuesday evening, with a kickoff time of 8pm.

A fully fit Ross Stewart has a lot to offer Southampton.
Goals in consecutive games highlight Southampton’s frustration and Stewart’s inability to remain healthy.
If he could play every week, the attacker may become one of the best strikers in the second tier.
He has the potential to be a Premier League player, which is why Southampton has stuck with him.
Accepting fewer salary will be a difficult decision for the 29-year-old, but given his physical difficulties, it could be his best chance of securing a spot at a club for the next two or three seasons.
