Son Heung-min in Talks With MLS Club as he Announces Tottenham Exit

Only a few months after winning his first trophy with the North London team, Tottenham captain Son Heung-min has declared his intention to leave the team. Son, who turned 33 in July, joined Spurs from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015 and has been there for ten years. He has now made 454 appearances, scored 173 goals, and become a contemporary legend.

Last season, Son guided the team to their first title since 2008 when they defeated Manchester United in the Europa League final, guaranteeing a spot back in the Champions League. The winger’s next destination seems to have been disclosed, though, suggesting that he will not be making another trip to Europe.

Son Declares His Will to Leave Spurs
During a news conference, the captain disclosed everything.

The South Korean made his plans public for the first time at a news conference prior to a match against Newcastle United in Seoul.

“I wanted to let you know that I have made the decision to quit the Club this summer before we begin the press conference. With all due respect, the club is assisting me in making this choice.

“It was the hardest choice I have ever had to make in my professional life. What wonderful memories. Making the choice was really difficult.

“To push myself, I need a different setting. Ten years is a long time, and I need a little change. I arrived in North London at a very young age—23 years old. I’m a proud adult when I leave this club.

“I want to express my gratitude to all of the Spurs supporters for their love and support. I hope that now is the ideal moment to make that choice and that the farewell is equally well-timed. I’m hoping that everyone can respect and accept that.

“I personally would have loved to have worked with this fantastic person and player,” Thomas Frank, the manager of Tottenham, said in response to the news. He is among the best players to have ever played in the Premier League and a true Spurs legend in every way. Finding the ideal moment is never simple, but having me enter from the side makes it a little bit simpler to finish on a positive note.

Son’s Next Destination Revealed

The winger is set to leave Europe

Fabrizio Romano claims that Son is expected to leave the Premier League for the Major League Soccer (MLS), with LAFC being the front-runners to sign him. Romano said that talks between the two sides have progressed and reiterated that the 33-year-old’s most likely destination is to transfer to the United States.

In July, GIVEMESPORT exclusively revealed that LAFC had begun negotiations with Son before he made his announcement.

Saudi Arabia is reportedly interested as well, but Son is reportedly prioritising a move to the MLS, so it seems unlikely that he will move to the Middle East at this time.
