Sky Sports delete Thierry Henry clip from Monday Night Football after backlash from fans

After receiving a significant amount of criticism from viewers, Sky Sports has removed a social media footage that featured Thierry Henry providing analysis during Monday Night Football.

On the occasion of Bournemouth’s 1-0 victory against Fulham, Arsenal icon Henry was there in the studio as a guest, and he was reunited with his colleague Jamie Carragher from CBS Sports.

Over the course of their analysis of the most significant events that occurred over the course of the weekend in the Premier League, the two individuals placed a significant amount of emphasis on Manchester United’s humiliating 4-1 loss to Newcastle on Sunday.

Following the goal scored by Alejandro Garnacho, which cancelled out Sandro Tonali’s excellent strike, United went into the interval with a score of 1-1. Harvey Barnes then scored a double, and Bruno Guimaraes added the cherry on top.

In the MNF studio, there was widespread criticism of the quality of defence that United displayed, and Henry singled out rookie centre-back Leny Yoro for what he did after Barnes scored his second goal.

Henry criticised his fellow Frenchman for doing something that he claimed he had “never seen” before, and Yoro was observed gazing at the linesman after Barnes found the net. Yoro was also seen glancing at the linesman.

“Please stay on (Leny) Yoro and what he’s asking for,” Henry stated in response. It is unclear to me what he is looking at; are you gazing at the linesman to determine whether or not he will come to your rescue?

On the other hand, I am not sure if he believed there was an offside. We are all aware that it is a goal; what are you seeking to accomplish? I’m not sure, because I’ve never witnessed something like that. Everyone is aware that it is a goal…”

The severe critique that Henry offered, on the other hand, was not well received by his followers on social media, who swiftly communicated their opinions to him.

“Come on, Thierry,” cries out one of the fans on X. When a goal is conceded, it is not uncommon for a defender to immediately look at the linesman. Although Henry is a high-caliber analyst, this makes me cringe.

A second individual commented: “Thierry has never seen a defender look to the linesman in hope … strange.”

A third person chimed in and said, “It is clear that Henry is trying to convey something more profound by bringing this forward on Yoro.” Wow, this is very strange.

“50-year-old attacking an 18-year-old compatriot,” that was the statement made by a fourth individual. It’s nice.”

Sky Sports removed the video from their official page on X, which was once known as Twitter, in reaction to the condemnation that was received. The complete version is still available on their YouTube channel, and Henry’s commentary can also be found on the Instagram feed that Sky Sports maintains for their football coverage.

After sustaining a foot injury during preseason, Yoro left Lille to join Manchester United in the summer for a cost of £52 million. Despite the fact that he has made 25 appearances across all competitions, Real Madrid has shown interest in acquiring his services.

The crucial Europa League quarter final second leg matchup between United and Lyon will take place on Thursday, marking United’s return to play. It was in the first leg of the match when Yoro scored his first goal for the club.
