Simone Inzaghi ‘to leave Inter Milan’ immediately after losing Champions League final to PSG

Following the Champions League final, shocking news surfaced.
According to reports, Simone Inzaghi is expected to depart Inter Milan following their heartbreaking 5-0 Champions League final loss to Paris Saint-Germain.

Since taking over as manager in 2021, the Inter manager has won six trophies with the Italian team.

But at the Allianz Arena, where a wild and offensive PSG team totally overpowered Inter, he missed out on a seventh trophy.

To be honest, few would have predicted an Inter comeback in the second half after Achraf Hakimi and Desire Doue put the team ahead 2-0 before halftime.

Doue’s incredible finish into the right corner put the score at 3-0, effectively ending the game, but Kvaratskhelia added a fourth.

Additionally, academy graduate Senny Mayulu added even more gloss to the result by scoring a fifth goal off the bench at minute 87.

Regarding Inzaghi, the Italian manager has already attracted interest, and his contract at the San Siro expires in the summer.

Despite being linked to Chelsea and Manchester United in the past, he has resisted the urge to leave the San Siro.

But according to Kaveh Solhekol of Sky Sports, he is anticipated to depart Inter immediately following the 2025 championship game in order to take a position as manager of Al Hilal in the Saudi Pro League.

Prior to the final, Inzaghi declined to comment on reports that he had discussions with Al Hilal leaders earlier this week.

This summer, the Saudi club has been linked to a high-profile transfer for Bruno Fernandes, the captain of Manchester United.

They also have former Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves and former Manchester City full-back Joao Cancelo on their roster.

Since the flood of playing talent started last summer, Inzaghi is expected to become the first top European manager to relocate to Saudi Arabia.

After firing former Benfica manager Jorge Jesus, Al Hilal first contacted Fulham manager Marco Silva, but the Portuguese manager claimed he was content at Craven Cottage, according to Sky Sports.

If Inzaghi’s departure is confirmed, Inter’s search for a domestic successor might be more difficult than initially thought.

Gian Piero Gasperini is expected to be hired as Roma’s manager after leaving Atalanta, while Massimiliano Allegri and Maurizio Sarri are anticipated to join AC Milan and Lazio following periods of unemployment.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Antonio Conte is expected to stay at Napoli despite speculation last week that he might depart the team after winning the Serie A title.
