Simon Jordan has stated that he would be astonished if Frank Lampard transferred from Coventry City to Crystal Palace if the club earns promoted to the Premier League.
Talksport reported earlier this week that the Eagles have identified the 47-year-old as a potential replacement for Oliver Glasner.
Lampard has been in command at the CBS Arena since November 2024, and he has already led the team to fifth place in the Championship standings.
And now, the Sky Blues are looking for automatic promotion to the top level, their first return to the division since 2001.
However, the London club is looking for a new head coach after Glasner said that he will not renew his contract, which expires in the summer.
Simon Jordan’s allegation that Frank Lampard will join Crystal Palace

Jordan has questioned Lampard’s readiness to return to the Premier League with Crystal Palace, having previously coached Chelsea and Everton.
He believes that Coventry have supported his return to management following his difficult experiences in the top division, and that this backing has been just as important to their promotion push as Lampard’s own work as head coach.
“Frank hasn’t proved himself as a Premier League manager so the answer to Palace’s problems may not be necessarily Frank Lampard because he hasn’t proved himself,” stated Jordan, according to Talksport.
“The fact that he can manage in the Championship; yes, he has done well before.
“Derby reached the play-off final, but did not win it. So he’s reached a particular level.
“I believe Coventry has a plausible claim that he was given a reasonable opportunity to return to a reasonable job.
“The fact that he does a good job and gets them promoted would not stand alone.
“He would have been supported in that respect and backed to do it.”
However, he has suggested that Lampard would not leave Coventry for Palace if he could get the club promoted, especially given Glasner’s lack of support at Selhurst Park.
“I don’t know, Lampard doesn’t strike me as the sort of person that would take that sort of investment into him lightly,” he said afterwards.
“But I’d be surprised if Lampard gets Coventry promoted, which is likely, and then decides that a club that Oliver Glasner suggested doesn’t back managers, doesn’t support them, is the next step for Frank Lampard rather than a club with which he’d have a lot of currency and would no doubt give him some assurances that they’d give him a chance to play.
“So I would be surprised given the character of Lampard but you never know in this industry where you can always be disappointed.”
Coventry are now top of the Championship table, and have remained in the top two for majority of the season.
Next up for the Sky Blues is a trip to face Norwich City on 26 January in an 8pm kick-off.

Frank Lampard will attract notice with his Coventry form.
Lampard is a household figure thanks to his playing career, so he will receive extra attention when things go well in his coaching career.
Given Coventry’s performance this season, it’s hardly surprising that he’s been linked with a return to the Premier League.
Even if the Sky Blues get promoted, it would be tempting to move to Selhurst Park, as they now provide more stability in the top division.
The manner of Glasner’s departure may be off-putting, but the opportunity to move up the ladder may be too appealing for Lampard to pass up if offered by Palace this year.
