An unexpected Premier League club is reportedly planning to make a transfer offer to Liverpool for one of their defenders, according to a new report. Liverpool is expected to receive the offer.
According to a report that was published by talkSPORT on Tuesday, Trent Alexander-Arnold has reached an agreement to join Real Madrid this summer, following the expiration of his club contract with Liverpool.
Real may be required to pay a fee in order for him to participate in the 2025 Club World Cup. The deadline for the submission of squads for the competition is June 10th, and Real must submit at least one squad. It is only after the 30th of June that Alexander-Arnold will be able to join Los Blancos as a free agent, as his contract with Liverpool will expire on that date.
However, despite the fact that Arne Slot’s team will almost certainly already be looking for replacements, it is possible that they will be required to sign an additional defender that they had not anticipated.
As they get ready to compete in European football once again, whether it be in the Europa League or the Champions League, Newcastle, the team that won the Carabao Cup, is reportedly planning to make a bid of thirty million pounds for the centre back Jarell Quansah.
It has been reported that the Magpies are of the opinion that a fee of this magnitude, in addition to any add-ons, will be sufficient to persuade Liverpool to sell, with the offer of more regular first team football being said to be of significant appeal.
Quansah started Liverpool’s first Premier League game of the season, which was a 2-0 victory away at Ipswich. However, he was taken out of the game at halftime due to difficulties with his aerial play, and he did not play in another league game until December the following year.
Since then, he has been in and out of the team, most recently filling in at right back due to injuries sustained by Alexander-Arnold, Conor Bradley, and Joe Gomez.
He also received a call-up to the first England squad under the leadership of Thomas Tuchel, but he did not participate in either of England’s victories in World Cup qualifying against Albania or Latvia.
Right-back is a position that Slot believes Quansah could play in more frequently, which would be a double blow to Liverpool if the 22-year-old player indicates that he wants more first team football at Newcastle. Slot says he could see Quansah playing in this position more often.
After the defender was called up to play for England, Slot addressed the media and said, “In the last few times he had to play for us, it was in a position he is not completely used to as right full-back.”
“But in my opinion, he has the quality to play in that position because he is strong, fast, very comfortable with the ball, and it gives us an extra quality if we play him.”
