Sheffield Wednesday takeover update surfaces, with insider claiming ‘everything are on the right road’

According to a new source, the EFL is not anticipated to approve the Sheffield Wednesday acquisition process anytime soon, but James Bord’s efforts to get the Owls out of administration are making headway.

According to The Star, a source in support of the offer believes that Bord’s group is on pace to finalize his purchase of the Championship side.

The preferred bidder was selected on Christmas Eve, a month and a half ago, but the club is still waiting for EFL permission before closing the purchase.

The Owls have been under administration since October 24, when Dejphon Chansiri ceded ownership of the club, with fans hoping for a quick conclusion.

Sheffield Wednesday’s relegation to League One has already been announced, but delays in the takeover could prevent them from planning for life in the third tier next season.

Sheffield Wednesday takeover latest, as James Bord news emerges.

It is thought that those supporting Dunfermline Athletic owner Bord’s approach to buy the club are confident that everything is on track.

While the ratification procedure is not expected to be completed in the near future, there are no serious concerns about any roadblocks that could derail the takeover.

There have been some worries over whether Bord, a former poker player, and his investing partner Felix Roemer would pass the EFL’s Owners and Directors criteria.

However, it is recognized that the delay in the ratification procedure is due to the fact that many parties must be reviewed as part of the testing.

It has also been stated that their international operation has complicated procedures and slowed the approval process.

The Owls are suffering at the bottom of the Championship table and will be hoping that this takeover will mark the start of a new era at Hillsborough, with League One football on the horizon.

Henrik Pedersen’s team next face Millwall at home on February 14 at 3pm, with Owls great Barry Bannan making his comeback as an opposition player.

Sheffield Wednesday supporters must remain patient during the takeover process.

The longer this takeover process goes on, the more it is hurting Sheffield Wednesday, as evidenced by the player sales in the January window.

However, if all goes smoothly over the next few months, the club should be able to move forward and begin a new era.

The assurance behind the scenes that there will be no problems should alleviate some of the fears that had been seeping under the surface in recent weeks.

There are numerous valid reasons why this is taking as long as it is, and supporters must stay patient and hopeful for the time being.
