Sheffield Wednesday takeover update as Henrik Pedersen makes his intentions clear to James Bord

Sheffield Wednesday manager Henrik Pedersen has identified an area of investment that the Owls’ incoming owner must prioritize once a takeover of the Steel City club is completed.

James Bord has been identified as Wednesday’s preferred bidder, which might mean the end of the tunnel for the Hillsborough outfit, which is now in administration.

However, Bord is being sued by his old business partner, Jonathan Cohen, for his investment in Spanish team Cordoba, which could further delay the takeover.

Meanwhile, if Sheffield United defeats the Owls at Bramall Lane on Sunday, they will be mathematically relegated to League One.

Henrik Pedersen, Sheffield Wednesday’s manager, has issued a plea for training ground funding.

Wednesday still have a negative Championship point total, although they scored their first goal of the year in a loss to Millwall last Saturday.

Meanwhile, Pedersen told the Yorkshire Post that the Owls’ prospective buyers should invest on their training pitches: “It is one of the most crucial things. To compete in the Championship, it’s crucial to have a solid pitch that allows for swift ball movement and defensive challenges. However, it is equally crucial offensively to be able to move the ball swiftly enough to challenge the opponent’s wits rather than just their skill. “We can’t play quickly on the training pitch.”So, to challenge the intensity defensively or offensively, you’ll need a high pitch. If you don’t have this, you earn more tackles but lack the intensity required to compete in the game.”

Pedersen may not be in the Wednesday dugout for next season’s League One campaign, but Bord should still take the 48-year-old’s advise on training pitches if his Owls takeover goes through.

Sheffield Wednesday are determined to delay League One relegation.

The Hillsborough club has had an exceptionally difficult season, which has been characterized by the fact that they are in administration following the departure of former owner Dejphon Chansiri, who caused financial havoc in S6.

Chansiri’s wrongdoings resulted in the departure of then-manager Danny Rohl last summer, as well as the exits of top players Josh Windass and Anthony Musaba.

Prominent departures remained a theme in the winter transfer window, with Wednesday great Barry Bannan joining Millwall.

Meanwhile, the Owls’ dismal financial situation has had a significant influence on the pitch, as the South Yorkshire team has not won since a 2-0 triumph over Portsmouth in September.

Wednesday will be demoted to the League. No matter what occurs between now and the end of the season, they should be happy to postpone that event.

Relegation to the third division following a defeat to Steel City rivals Sheffield United on Sunday would be the worst possible outcome.

Furthermore, a surprise victory over the Blades would instill pride in a Wednesday team that has been regularly kicked in the teeth this season.
