Sheffield Wednesday are seeking an emergency loan for Seny Dieng ahead of their game against Sheffield United.

According to The Star, Murphy Cooper’s injury has left the Owls in need of a goalkeeper, with a lack of squad depth limiting the alternatives to untested age-group players.

Cooper is the latest fitness issue for Henrik Pedersen’s team, which is already without Pierce Charles.

This might pave the way for an emergency loan deal, which is permitted under EFL rules despite the fact that the transfer window has closed.

Any emergency loan move is valid for seven days and can be extended for an additional seven days until any injured players return to action.

This will provide Dieng the opportunity to stake his claim for Senegal’s World Cup team, and he will most likely be ready to make the transfer after missing the last year with Middlesbrough.

Sheffield Wednesday are at the bottom of the Championship table and might be formally relegated to League One this weekend.

The Owls will meet arch rivals Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on February 22nd at 12pm, and they will be hoping Dieng is available by then.
