Secret to Patrick Dorgu deal emerges with star ‘flying in’ and Man Utd shirt No, contract details revealed

With Patrick Dorgu allegedly scheduled to travel in the UK on Thursday for medical examinations and other information regarding the agreement the Red Devils have reached for the Denmark international, Manchester United can anticipate finalising the signing of the player by Friday at the latest.

Given that the club’s inconsistent performance since his appointment hasn’t given the new manager the boost some at Old Trafford were hoping for, United has been ordered to bring in some new players to help Ruben Amorim correct the club’s inconsistencies. However, the former Sporting CP coach, who this week celebrated his 40th birthday, has had a rather challenging start to life due to the Manchester United team’s glaring deficiencies and the Portuguese’s insistence on playing his preferred 3-4-2-1 shape.

Due to limited funding and the necessity to closely adhere to Profit and Sustainability Regulations, United has found it difficult to give Amorim the upgrades he requires to advance the team.

But on Tuesday night, a breakthrough was finally made when it was revealed by multiple sources that Dorgu had signed a contract with Lecce, giving United the left-back/left wing-back option they had been lacking for a long time.

The 6′ 2″ star is reportedly going to say goodbye to his Lecce colleagues on Wednesday. According to Gianluca DiMarzio, he will then take a flight to Manchester on Thursday, where he will undergo a medical check. That should be a formality because the player has never been injured.

Dorgu only signed a new contract with Lecce on October 24. The Serie A team had planned to hold onto him until the summer, but according to Givemesport, the player’s insistence on moving to United ultimately compelled them to agree to his sale and negotiate the best price for the four-time Denmark international.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Dorgu is expected to take the No. 13 shirt at Old Trafford, which has been empty since veteran custodian Lee Grant left in 2022. This is the same number he wore in Italy.

In addition to securing a very significant pay increase from the £10,500 per week arrangement he was on in Italy, he is anticipated to agree to a four-and-a-half-year contract that will last until the summer of 2029, with the option of an additional year.

The amount Manchester United will pay for Dorgu; two exits to facilitate the transfer of funds
To be eligible for United’s Premier League match against Crystal Palace at Old Trafford on Sunday at 2pm, Dorgu must be registered by the Premier League’s twelve cutoff time on Friday lunchtime.

However, as the majority of the team has already left for Romania for their Europa League match against FCSB (Steaua Bucharest) on Thursday, he will have to wait a while to meet his new teammates while he is heading to England.

The transaction will cost £29.3 million ($36.4 million) in total, with United paying the Serie A team an initial €30 million plus a further €5 million in possible add-ons.

Given that Lecce had originally quoted €40m (£33.5m, $41.6m), United can undoubtedly feel very satisfied with the €35m package obtained.

In order to finance his acquisition, the Red Devils permitted Antony to sign a loan deal with Real Betis, which will return millions to the club’s coffers by paying at least 84% of his substantial weekly wage of £200,000.

Tyrell Malacia, a Dutchman who has also been offered to Betis, could be sold if Dorgu is apprehended.

United is also in negotiations to sell Casmemiro, and taking his £350,000-per-week contract off the salary bill will provide a huge cash infusion.

Dorgu’s arrival will also mark the first acquisition of the Amorim era at Old Trafford. Although a contract with Diego Leon, a left-back from Paraguay, was also reached this month, it won’t be finalised until the summer, following the player’s 18th birthday in April.

Latest Man Utd transfer news: Rashford options are “down to one,” and Tel is still hunting
With Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford’s departures still possible in the final days of the transfer season, United also hopes to restructure their attack over the next week.

The 27-year-old England star’s search for a new home, however, appears to be difficult. According to a new report released on Wednesday, Rashford has now priced himself out of a move to Barcelona, leaving only one option available and his position on joining either Tottenham or West Ham becoming clear.

Rasmus Hojlund is reportedly still not convinced by Amorim, and with the 21-year-old reportedly “on trial” for the next five months, Amorim’s ideal replacement for the £72 million man in attack appears to have already been decided.

If United can move Rashford or Alejandro Garnacho this month, they will also be prepared to compete for the services of Mathys Tel, a forward who is wanted by Bayern Munich.

This season’s Patrick Dorgu stats for Lecce

Although Dorgu was primarily bought by United as a left wing-back, he has also demonstrated that he can play as an inverted right winger for Lecce, where his versatility has offered them many advantages this season.

The 20-year-old has also seen some impressive statistics as a result, and he will be hoping to enable Diogo Dalot to return to his duties at right wing-back and finally address United’s long-term problems on the left side of their defence. Both full-back positions are thought to be adequately covered by Noussair Mazraoui.
