Second Liverpool player in talks to leave after Alexander Isak arrival and it could upset fans

Alexander Isak’s arrival at Liverpool is expected to prompt another exit as Arne Slot seeks to balance his squad.

According to rumors, a second Liverpool player is in talks to depart the club on transfer deadline day, with Newcastle attacker Alexander Isak joining for £130 million.

The Reds had been hunting Isak all summer, but despite the Swede’s refusal to play for the club and a statement citing “broken promises,” Newcastle insisted that their talisman would not be sold.

However, the story is now likely to end with Liverpool finally getting their man after agreeing a British-record deal with Newcastle for the former Real Sociedad player, who will also receive a minor solidarity payment.

Isak is set to become Liverpool’s ninth and most costly acquisition in a window that has also seen the arrivals of Florian Wirtz, Hugo Etikike, Jeremie Frimpong, and Milos Kerkez.

They are also still trying to conclude a £40 million deal for Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi, which will most likely result in Joe Gomez transferring to AC Milan for regular football.

Gomez might follow Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ben Doak, Jarell Quansah, and Caoimhin Kelleher in departing Anfield, but there is speculation of another possible departure.

According to James Pearce of The Athletic, Aston Villa are looking into signing midfielder Harvey Elliott, who may struggle to obtain first-team opportunities if Isak joins the Reds.

According to the journalist, Elliott will most certainly leave if he receives a “suitable proposal” following his record-breaking capture of Isak.

RB Leipzig made an approach for the England Under 21 international earlier this summer, and it was believed that Liverpool’s terms for a deal were £40 million plus a buy-back option, or £50 million minus the clause.

Aston Villa set to do plenty of deadline-day business.
At this late stage, with Villa subject to UEFA financial limits, a loan transaction appears more likely than a permanent sale.

Unai Emery’s side has only acquired striker Evann Guessand and goalkeeper Marco Bizot so far, but they appear to be negotiating deals for Jadon Sancho and Victor Lindelof following a dismal start to the season.

Elliott, who was Player of the Tournament for England’s Under 21s during their successful summer campaign, was a popular player under Jurgen Klopp, but his minutes were dramatically curtailed under Arne Slot.

He has made 147 appearances and won six titles since moving from Fulham in 2019.
