Sadio Mane: ‘Mo Salah Was Not Liverpool’s Best Finisher – Even Jurgen Klopp Agrees’

Sadio Mane, a former Liverpool forward, once overlooked Mohamed Salah when asked to name the best finisher he played with at Anfield. During Jurgen Klopp’s tenure, the Senegalese star led a ferocious front three that included Salah and Roberto Firmino, propelling the Reds to Champions League and Premier League victory.

Salah and Mane had a rocky relationship, which is thought to have contributed to the latter’s decision to join Bayern Munich in 2022. After leaving Merseyside, Mane snubbed the ‘Egyptian King’ while naming the greatest finisher he has ever played alongside.

Mane Names Origi as the Best Finisher He Played With

The Belgian was often a super sub who popped up with some big goals

According to The Sun, Mane stated to 1teamsports that Divock Origi was the best finisher he played alongside while at Liverpool, rather than Salah, which many would have assumed was the obvious response. The Belgian was never a regular in Jurgen Klopp’s starting lineup, but he was a valuable rotation option.

The former Lille striker scored important goals in the epic comeback victory over Barcelona, as well as the second goal in the 2-0 Champions League final win over Tottenham in 2019.

Interestingly, this is not only Mane’s perspective; former manager Klopp made the same assertion when it was reported that the striker would depart the club at the conclusion of his contract.

“He (Origi) is a legend on and off the pitch. Fantastic footballer, world-class striker, and our finest finisher. Everyone would say the same thing. You see this in training. It is a difficult decision to leave him out. “Divock is popular among everyone here.”

What Happened to Origi After Leaving Liverpool

The forward has failed to recapture the same form

After arriving to Italy with the goal of becoming a significant figure, Divock Origi suddenly finds himself alone at AC Milan, exercising alone rather than with teammates. He has not played for the club since the 2022-23 season, and a loan spell with Nottingham Forest in 2023-24 did little to improve his position.

Despite this, Origi remains in Milan thanks to favourable tax regulations for foreign workers, earning £277,000 every month until 2026. His poor impact—only two goals in 36 games—has made his signing a costly expense for the club, and he has spent the most of the season playing for Milan Futuro, a third-tier Italian football team.
