The former West Ham and Everton player said that he had spoken with Liverpool.
Johnny Heitinga is going to be a new coach at Liverpool.

This is according to Dutch journalist Marcel van der Kraan, who spoke with talkSPORT prior to England’s triumph against Holland in the Euro 2024 semi-final.

After replacing Jurgen Klopp as Anfield’s manager, Slot’s backroom staff is severely lacking. After leading the Reds for nine years, Klopp left with assistant managers Pep Lijnders and Peter Kraweitz, as well as players like Vitor Matos and John Achterberg.

Slot has brought chief physical performance coach Ruben Peeters from Feyenoord together with his loyal right-hand man Sipke Hulshoff. Fabian Otte will arrive as goalkeeping coach, and Aaron Briggs has joined as the first team’s individual development coach.

Heitinga and Liverpool have been in communication, anyway. After departing West Ham at the end of the previous season due to David Moyes’ departure, the former defender for Everton, Fulham, and Atletico Madrid stated he had received an offer.

“All I can say now is that I have been approached and that my agent Rob Jansen and I are in discussions,” Heitinga stated to the De Telegraaf.

Reputable writer Van der Kraan has now asserted that Heitinga will actually be moving to Anfield. Since Slot has never worked there before, he is coming with expectations, although not very high ones, according to Van der Kraan. However, all of his professional accomplishments have been quite astounding.

It is noteworthy that he made the decision to bring in Johnny Heitinga, a former Dutch international with over 100 caps who played for Everton. However, Heitinga, as far as I can tell, expressed his happiness to join Arne Slot by saying, “Look, Everton could have brought me in but they didn’t so my coaching career is carrying on.”

“Heitinga is a very practical guy with a vast background as a player. He was very impressive in the Ajax academy, and all the players like him.” As a player who participated in the 2014 World Cup final, he can bring something that Arne Slot, as a coach, cannot.
