Bruno Fernandes has been informed by Ruben Amorim that he will not be sold during the summer. This is so that he can continue to assist Manchester United in achieving success in the Premier League.
However, Jeff Stelling and Ally McCoist, who are both co-hosts on talkSPORT, are of the opinion that he will be out of the picture if Real Madrid makes a move for the midfielder.
Real Madrid is reportedly keeping an eye on the playmaker for Manchester United after he had a remarkable season in which he contributed to the team’s success by scoring 16 goals and assisting on as many others.
Since joining United from Sporting Lisbon in January 2020, Fernandes has scored so many goals for United that he is now only five goals away from reaching a century of goals for the club.
Fernandes is the only player in the top-flight league to have contributed more goals than him this season. Only Mohamed Salah of Liverpool and Erling Haaland of Manchester City have contributed more goals than Fernandes.
And when Amorim was speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of Tuesday night’s away match against high-flying Nottingham Forest, he was quick to put an end to any allegations that his captain might be on his way out of the team.
In response to a report that suggested the 30-year-old player was affiliated with Los Blancos, he responded, “No. No, that is not going to take place.”
After that, Amorim was under pressure to answer the question of whether or not the Portugal international might choose to switch teams in his pursuit of major awards.
When asked about it, he responded, “That is the challenge.” We need Bruno to be here.
We want to win the Premier League once more, and in order to do that, we want the best players to be on our team. Due to the fact that he participates in 55 games each season, he is still so young.
At the very least, he contributes thirty goals and assists within the game. This is the kind of player we want to have here, and he won’t be leaving anytime soon.
After that, Amorim made the following remark in response to the question of why he is so certain that his future is at Old Trafford: “We are in control of the situation.”
“I have the impression that he is very content in this location. He is aware of what it is that we intend to do. Despite the fact that he is a supporter of Manchester United, he is a supporter nonetheless.
“There are times when the frustration that you and everyone else sees and when you say, ‘It’s not a good thing for the captain,’ it’s a sign that he wants it so badly.
Such a player is exactly what we are looking for. Due to the fact that I have already informed him, he will not be leaving.
Although Amorin is confident that Fernandes will be a member of the United team for the upcoming season, McCoist and Stelling, who present talkSPORT Breakfast, are not as optimistic about the prospect.
Stelling expressed his opinion: “I like Amorim, I know he listens to the show, but I’m sorry, it won’t be down to Ruben Amorim whether they sell Bruno Fernandes or not.”
Finally, McCoist stated, “One hundred percent.” Indeed, you are completely correct. The outcome will be determined by one or two additional factors.
Stelling then made the statement: “They’re talking £90million from Real Madrid, if Real Madrid genuinely came in with a £90m offer, Jim Ratcliffe is shaking his hand and saying, ‘Good luck son.'”
After that, McCoist made the following observation: “He’s away. It is not only that, but there will also be a knock at the door from Fernandes himself, saying, “Excuse me, I’ve got a chance to go to Real Madrid here.” These are two significant factors, there is no doubt about it.
“However, it goes without saying that he has been the only shining light this season, and a lot of people have questioned him about whether or not he should be captain.
“I’ll be quite honest with you, some of his – tantrums is a word that is far too strong – but some of his reactions to things are sometimes I don’t think are sometimes befitting of a captain. I feel like he’s not always the best captain.
“But I tell you what you cannot argue with, the way he’s performed and led by an example as a captain should, so he would be an absolute savage loss to Manchester United.”
Before adding the following: “You can actually make an argument that he would be better with a better quality of player around him because, with the greatest respect to United at this moment in time, the players haven’t been performing to the standard they should have.”
Fodder for relegation
Stelling has argued that United could have been in a relegation battle this season if Fernandes had not been a part of the team. This is due to the fact that United is currently ranked thirteenth in the Premier League table after playing 29 games.
He stated that if Bruno Fernandes were not playing for Manchester United this season, the club would have a difficult time breaking out of the bottom three.
“But there is no choice, if it’s Manchester United struggling in the Premier League or Real Madrid, there is zero choice.”
After that, McCoist made the following statement: “What is he going to think if Real Madrid comes in for him?”
“I believe that he is deserving of being playing with players who are of a higher calibre at this very moment.
“I think Manchester United are a massive club, but they’re just going through a tough time at this moment in time.”
