In a contentious encounter on Sunday, Arsenal was denied a spectacular victory over Manchester City. Roy Keane has ripped into Gunners manager Mikel Arteta for his remarks made after the game.
After Mikel Arteta’s complaints against Manchester City, Roy Keane has once again insisted that the player “take his medicine.”
Arsenal had a chance to win at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday and make history. They were on the verge of taking three points thanks to strikes from Riccardo Calafiori and Gabriel Magalhaes, but John Stones’ late equalizer denied them.
Due to Leandro Trossard’s second yellow card for kicking the ball away, they were reduced to ten men for the majority of the match. It was an evidently infuriating decision for Arteta.
Even after the game, he remained silent about the incident but insisted that City’s Jeremy Doku ought to have been sent out for a similar offense. After hearing Arteta’s grievances, Keane ripped into the Arsenal manager, saying he ought to have just accepted the ruling.
Keane stated on Sky Sports, “Managers are coming out every week saying every decision is against them.” Simply acknowledge it and come out.
“Deep down, a point will enough for him. Please, Arsenal boss, display some class. We responded appropriately, he most likely deserved the red card, and we moved on. That concludes the matter. After taking your medication, go on. Be a little more classy.
Keane has sent Arteta direct demands before, as evidenced by this correspondence. In January 2023, he experienced a similar issue as well.
The former Manchester United player further stated that following some particularly egregious touchline actions, he would have to accept cautions from officials. “Well, I wouldn’t worry about yellow cards—you have to worry about the reds,” Keane remarked.
But since he is clearly enthusiastic and you don’t work here to win people over, I believe Arsenal would be cool with that! He is there to help Arsenal win football games, and he is succeeding in that endeavor.
“Listen, I usually don’t mind when he gets the yellow card and has to take his medication. We observe other managers acting in ways that we may not always agree with, but they are passionate and emotional, and I believe it’s just him trying to succeed. I wouldn’t treat him too badly.”
Trossard won’t be available to Arteta for Arsenal’s upcoming match. The Gunners’ next game is on Wednesday night against Bolton Wanderers of League One. The following weekend, they will welcome struggling Leicester at the Emirates.
