During their partnership in the final round of an incredible and spectacular edition of The Masters at Augusta National Golf Club on Sunday, April 13, Bryson DeChambeau said that Rory McIlroy didn’t even talk to him.
Two of the sport’s most well-known figures, one from the PGA Tour and the other, somewhat appropriately, from the rival, upstart, breakaway league LIV Golf, were the final pairing on Sunday after three rounds and fifty-four holes of play during The Masters week. They faced off against each other and exchanged wild swings in momentum.
In the final round, McIlroy was on the first teebox and had a dominating two-shot lead over DeChambeau. However, he gave up that lead by the end of the first hole, carding a dismal double bogey. Even though they were tied at the time, DeChambeau steadily dropped down the rankings, and McIlroy naturally held on to force Justin Rose into a play-off, which McIlroy ultimately won.
However, DeChambeau said it was difficult to have a chat until the tournament was over.
Rory McIlroy Didn’t Talk to Bryson DeChambeau
That’s according to DeChambeau himself

After birdieing the second hole in the final round to “take control” of the tournament, DeChambeau claimed to have “felt great.”
However, he subsequently made consecutive bogeys on the third and fourth holes before finishing with a nine-hole score of one over par. DeChambeau finished tied-fifth with a score of -7 for the whole event, three over for the day, and 38 on the back nine.
McIlroy and DeChambeau appeared to be at odds, as the American stated:
“He didn’t talk to me once all day.”
Even though DeChambeau is unquestionably one of the greatest golfers in the world, he participates in considerably less tournaments than his PGA Tour competitors since LIV Golf players don’t resume competing until a three-day event at Club de Golf Chapultepec in Mexico City.
According to DeChambeau, the time away could be beneficial for him because he is eager to include new components into his style of play, which the media and fans will soon witness.
The RBC Heritage at Hilton Head Island in South Carolina, which takes place from April 17 to April 20, offers PGA Tour players the opportunity to complete a much quicker turnaround.
The PGA Championship is the next major in golf, and it is in May that McIlroy and DeChambeau may rekindle their growing rivalry. The Open Championship is held in July, and the US Open is held the following month.
