Rodrygo has made his feelings clear on Liverpool as club ‘enters race to sign Real Madrid star’

Rodrygo has been linked to Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool.

Despite rumors that the Premier League team is planning a surprise bid for the Real Madrid player, Rodrygo has already expressed his opinions about Liverpool.

Since joining the team in 2019 in a £39 million transfer from Santos, Rodrygo, 24, has been instrumental in Madrid’s recent success under former head coach Carlo Ancelotti, winning three La Liga crowns and the Champions League twice.

But under new manager Xabi Alonso, who took Ancelotti’s position before the current Club World Cup, he has had a harder time.

Rodrygo started the competition’s first game against Al Hilal, recording an assist in the Saudi Pro League team’s 1-1 draw.

However, he only played 27 minutes of football over the rest of the competition and was not involved in Real Madrid’s 4-0 loss against PSG in the round of four, Juventus, or Pachuca.

In attack, Alonso has preferred Gonzalo Garcia, giving players like Arda Guler and Brahim Diaz more playing time than the Brazilian.

Real Madrid is reportedly “ready to sell” Rodrygo, who hasn’t scored for the team since February, according to Spanish publication Fichajes.

It comes after other claims in Spain that state Alonso has complete support to bench any player in his team, regardless of how well-known or costly they are.

Rodrygo has been linked to moves to Arsenal and Chelsea, but according to Brazil’s UOL Esporte, Real Madrid is asking €100 million (£86 million) to let him leave the Bernabeu.

According to the Spanish newspaper AS, Liverpool has entered the competition to recruit the Brazil international. The Premier League winners are reportedly monitoring the player’s status at Madrid.

It comes amid rumors that Barcelona and Bayern Munich are interested in Colombian winger Luis Diaz, who is rumored to be leaving Anfield.

Due to the potential departure of Luis Diaz, Liverpool has shown interest in the Brazilian. “No offers have been made to Madrid,” AS said.

In regards to Liverpool, what has Rodrygo stated?
In European football, Rodrygo has met Liverpool multiple times. He has won four of his five meetings with the Reds, including the 2022 Champions League final, which Madrid won 1-0 thanks to a goal from fellow countryman Vinicius Jr.

Before moving to Real Madrid in 2017, he nearly signed a contract with Liverpool for just £2.5 million.

“I didn’t want to close the deal, so we didn’t. Despite the excellent offer, I wanted to remain in Santos. In 2024, Rodrygo declared, “I was able to finally realize my dream of playing for Santos.”

“But it’s true, I almost went to Liverpool in 2017.”

He has acknowledged his appreciation for Liverpool and its supporters despite declining the offer.

“We already know that the game there is going to be very difficult,” he remarked in advance of a 2023 Champions League match at Anfield.

“Playing against Liverpool is always difficult whether with or without fans, but at Anfield even more.”

However, it seems Arsenal is currently the front-runner to sign the winger, despite his earlier remarks of admiration for Liverpool.

According to AS, the Brazilian has stated that he wants to pick his destination if he is sold, and Arsenal is his top pick.
