Riccardo Calafiori aims subtle dig at referee over controversial Arsenal red card

Arsenal was unable to secure a victory against Manchester City due to Leandro Trossard’s red card, which obliged them to play the first half of the match with ten players. However, they were ultimately denied victory by a late John Stones equalizer.

In Arsenal’s stalemate with Manchester City, Riccardo Calafiori appeared to imply that referee Michael Oliver did not need to dismiss Leandro Trossard.

On the cusp of halftime, Trossard, who was already on a citation, was issued a second yellow card. The match center of the Premier League has verified that the incident was not caused by a foul on Bernardo Silva, for which City were awarded a free kick, but rather by the ball being kicked away, which delayed the resumption.

It was the second time in three games that Arsenal had a player dismissed for the offense. Declan Rice received a red card in the stalemate against Brighton, and he was unable to participate in the North London derby. He returned to league play against City on Sunday.

When Oliver terminated Trossard, Arsenal was leading 2-1. Calafiori’s inaugural goal for the club had tied the score, and Gabriel’s header had secured the lead. In an effort to preserve their lead, Mikel Arteta’s team deployed a deep defensive line in the second half. However, John Stones was able to score a stoppage-time equalizer.Calafiori exhaled deeply after verifying that he had not yet observed a replay of the incident. “I don’t want to say too much, but the referee, for me, they have to do their job to keep the game good to watch, but in these kinds of actions they don’t have to put themselves too much,” he stated to Sky Sports.

The Italian continued, “I believe Leo [Trossard] did not even hear the whistle.” “And please, you are required to perform your duties, not any additional duties.”

“You are not required to perform an excessive amount of work on the pitch.” “Allow the teams and the men to compete, as these are nothing but spectacles.”Mikel Arteta, the manager of the Gunners, declined to provide a detailed account of the incident. He opted to emphasize the significant amount of work that his team was required to perform after being reduced to ten players in an interview with Sky Sports. Additionally, he addressed a first-half incident in which Jeremy Doku appeared to avoid an arrest for a similar offense to Trossard’s one.

The Spaniard stated, “It is quite apparent; I have no need to elaborate.” “I believe that the red card is quite evident and conveys a clear message to the public.”

“I am not responsible for arriving at this location to render an assessment of the events that transpired.” I am responsible for surviving in one of the most challenging environments in football for a duration of 55 minutes and attempting to accomplish tasks in order to survive.

“The rest is not my job, but it has already happened twice in five games which is very worrying to see in the best league the Premier League.”The situation is rendered untenable by the red card. It is exceedingly challenging to engage in a game with eleven participants, and it is impossible with ten. You are required to repeatedly defend your six-yard box with ten.
