Alexander Isak remains linked with a spectacular transfer to Liverpool.
A Newcastle United journalist has provided an update on Alexander Isak, who is attracting interest from Liverpool.
Liverpool is still looking for new players despite having previously signed Jeremie Frimpong, Florian Wirtz, and Milos Kerkez to their Premier League-winning roster.
However, Arne Slot is also planning to cut his team, with Jarell Quansah poised to join Bayer Leverkusen.
Forwards Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota have also been linked with moves away from Anfield this summer.
If Liverpool agrees to sell Nunez or Jota, Slot will most likely look for a new No.9, with Isak being a possible candidate.
However, Newcastle are unwilling to sell their prized asset and would demand a fee in excess of £150 million.
Despite spending more than £100 million to sign Wirtz, Liverpool has the wherewithal to pay for Isak.
Lee Ryder, a Chronicle Live journalist, has thrown new light on Newcastle’s star player issue.
Ryder believes Eddie Howe will take the lead in contract negotiations with Isak before the player returns to the club for pre-season in July, with key decision makers Darren Eales and Paul Mitchell likely to depart St. James’ Park.
According to the story, Howe has communicated with the Swede, and there have been ‘silent negotiations’ behind the scenes.
“We understand that Howe has been in contact with Isak and is relaxed over his situation – and there has been quiet talks behind the scenes,” he posted on Twitter. “But that is no surprise given Howe is a great man manager who keeps in constant touch with his squad and offers assurance frequently.”
Newcastle do not have to sell Isak, and there are no internal concerns that the forward will ‘require calming down’, according to the article.
The 25-year-old is not anticipated to push a move, with national media reports stating he will sign a new contract for £200,000 per week at Newcastle.
However, Ryder claims that ‘Newcastle have not stood that up just yet’.
Isak has established himself as one of the Premier League’s top forwards thanks to his remarkable goal-scoring ability.
He scored 23 league goals last season and 21 goals in 2023/24.
