Reasons why David Moyes is anticipated to be Celtic’s future manager

Celtic are getting close to naming a new manager, with Columbus Crew head coach Wilfried Nancy apparently in advanced discussions to take over at Parkhead. Nancy, a French coach, has emerged as the leading contender for the Premiership title, following Brendan Rodgers’ unexpected resignation more than three weeks ago, following Celtic’s defeat to Hearts at Tynecastle shortly before the international break.

Despite the club’s haste to find a replacement, former Chelsea and Everton midfielder Pat Nevin believes David Moyes is still a manager who is almost certain to head Celtic in the future. Nevin, who has known Moyes since they were teenagers and played with in Scotland, regarded him as a natural match for the Hoops, claiming that his destiny has always seemed to point to guiding the Glasgow giants.

Nevin told CasinoHawks that the reason Moyes has yet to take charge of Celtic is solely due to scheduling. “It’s purely about timing,” Nevin explained. “David Moyes was made for two jobs. I believe Scotland was second, but Celtic was first. He and I went through Celtic together as children, so we’ve known each other since I was 13 or 14. “He’s always had’manager’ written across his forehead.”

Nevin remembers Moyes’ leadership qualities from a young age, stating that even as a 15-year-old captain, he was already a natural leader. “When he was 15, you could see it because he was captain, but as he matured, he became that type. He just seemed like someone who should have become Celtic’s manager, but the timing was never right,” Nevin added.

There were times when Moyes would have gladly accepted the Celtic position, but either the club already had a successful manager in place or Moyes himself was unavailable. Nevin reiterated that if the opportunity and timing aligned, Moyes would accept the post immediately. “There were occasions when he would have grabbed it, I’m sure, but Celtic had a successful manager in place. And when he wasn’t available to do it himself, he would have seized it in an instant,” Nevin continued.

While Celtic appear to be moving forward with Nancy as their immediate manager, Nevin’s words highlight the strong belief that Moyes will lead the Scottish champions in the future, with timing being the only element that has kept it from happening thus far.
