Following being courted by Manchester City and Manchester United, who offered a separate agreement, Michael Olise decided to join Bayern Munich.

Bayern Munich defeated Manchester United and City despite their improbable late bids to acquire Crystal Palace’s highly sought-after £60 million asset in less than a year.

The versatile 22-year-old playmaker received an irresistible offer from the German powerhouses, and he will play alongside Harry Kane under Vincent Kompany next season. However, it’s believed that Manchester United and City both looked into a deal that would have allowed Palace to keep Olise at Selhurst Park for an additional season.

Even though Pep Guadiola has a great deal of respect for Olise, City was disappointed that they were unable to get him to the Etihad this summer due to their continuous worries about financial fair play. Erik ten Hag will also be working with a limited budget this summer, since he has a £50 million net spend scheduled, and United was unable to pay Olise’s exorbitant fee.

Having witnessed his skills firsthand during his Premier League stints at City and Burnley, Kompany is an enormous admirer of his ability. Some of the greatest teams in Europe were fighting for Olise’s services, and the competition had become epic.‌

In order to acquire the player who scored 10 goals from just 14 league starts and provided six assists last season, Palace—who acknowledged he wants to play in the Champions League—was only willing to consider bids between £60 million and £70 million.

He had already received an offer from Chelsea that included players in addition to money, but Palace turned it down out of hand. It’s also believed that Olise refused to travel to Stamford Bridge.

Although Newcastle had shown interest in him as well, they were unable to match Palace’s asking price. Liverpool, who is a huge fan of the player as well, refrained from bidding.

Oliver Glasner, the manager of Palace, was aware that he would have difficulty holding onto the gifted French player, who will represent France at the Olympics this summer alongside Thierry Henry. In May, Glasner stated, “I think everybody knows he’s a good player.” “Now that he’s in shape, I believe we have a great fit for him, and he possesses many unique attributes. He is a terrific man and an excellent player, but he also gains from other players. Michael is exceptionally intelligent.

After failing to win a trophy under Thomas Tuchel for the first time since 2012, Bayern plans to rebuild this summer. Following a protracted and disorganised hiring procedure, Kompany was appointed manager, and a major team revamp is anticipated. Olise will move from the Premier League to Bayern, following in the footsteps of his new manager, Eric Dier, and Harry Kane.
