Real Madrid’s Franco Mastantuono Suffers Same ‘Incurable’ Condition as Lamine Yamal

Real Madrid have revealed that 18-year-old prodigy Franco Mastantuono would miss the upcoming matches due to injury. The young Argentine is suffering from an ailment that has caused problems for Barcelona’s youth Lamine Yamal.

Xabi Alonso’s team will next fly to England to face Premier League champions Liverpool in a highly anticipated European clash. However, the Spanish tactician will be without Mastantuono, who joined from River Plate this summer.

It is unclear how long he will be out, but the football calendar is expected to become increasingly hectic in the coming months. While he hasn’t been an automatic starter in recent weeks due to stiff competition at the Santiago Bernabeu, Mastantuono has made 12 appearances in all competitions for the Spanish club.

Franco Mastuono Struck with the Same Issue as Lamine Yamal.

Real Madrid announced in a brief statement on Monday that their young star is currently sidelined due to ‘pubalgia’. The club wrote:

“Our player Franco Mastantuono was diagnosed with pubalgia after Real Madrid Medical Services conducted tests on him today. “His recovery will be monitored.”

But, what is pubalgia? In recent years, several of the Spanish top-flight’s biggest stars have suffered from this illness. Yamal of Barcelona has been in and out of the team owing to the chronic ailment, while Nico Williams of Athletic Club is also suffering from the same injury.

Pubalgia is a disorder in which the muscles of the pubic area converge, causing discomfort. Concerns in the capital will rise over Mastantuono, with Barcelona fearing Yamal’s condition is ‘incurable’. The same fate could befall his Real Madrid counterpart.

Lluis Puig, a physiotherapist, addressed the long-term effects of pubalgia in further detail. He stated that it is not a quick-fix injury.

“First and foremost, we must clarify that pubalgia is not a muscle injury, but rather a change in the pubic area, where various muscles meet.

We must work on multiple levels, and we cannot declare that this is an ailment that will heal in a month. No, we’ll have to live with it, and we’ll have to conduct preventative and compensating work to ensure his ability to play at the top level.”

Even the greatest player of all time, Lionel Messi, suffered from the same issue. The Argentine was already regarded as football’s greatest player in 2019, when he acknowledged in a radio interview that it was still a problem for him.

“Pubalgia is tricky. I’ve been suffering from it for a while, do little training, and can’t play all of the games. It is not an issue that can be resolved overnight. I feel better now, but I haven’t recovered and still require treatment.”
