Real Madrid star ‘refused to play’ in El Clasico vs Barcelona amid Premier League transfer speculation

According to reports from Spain, a Real Madrid player “refused” to play in Sunday’s 4-3 La Liga loss to Barcelona. On Sunday, May 11, at the stunned Estadi de Montjuïc, Real Madrid took a 2-0 lead thanks to a brace from Kylian Mbappe. However, Barcelona rallied and led 4-2 at halftime after goals from Eric Garcia, Lamine Yamal’s delicious, curled effort, and Raphinha. Mbappe scored his third of the afternoon on 70 minutes, but Barcelona won, moving seven points clear at the top of La Liga with three games left.

Jude Bellingham, Vinicius Junior, and Arda Guler were among the quality players on Los Blancos’ roster, although one attacker was left off the pitch because he reportedly “refused” to play.

Despite participating in four training sessions over the week, Brazilian winger Rodrygo reportedly told the coaching staff that he “didn’t feel strong or up to playing,” even though his mood wasn’t “particularly good,” according to MARCA.

Despite the fact that he did not play, the newspaper claims that Carlo Ancelotti nevertheless chose to include him in his matchday squad for yesterday’s trip to Catalonia in an effort to safeguard the player.

The 24-year-old missed the following league game against Celta Vigo on May 4 due to illness after being substituted at halftime of last month’s Copa del Rey final loss to Barca.

When asked about Rodrygo’s condition following yesterday’s game, Ancelotti stated: “He had recovered, but he wasn’t feeling well.” His performance was lacking. I don’t mind him at all. He has a fever, therefore putting him on for five minutes when ill runs the danger of hurting him.”

Liverpool, Arsenal, and Manchester City are all interested in the Brazil international, who has been linked to a move to the Premier League.

Even though Rodrygo has only scored six goals and provided five assists in 30 La Liga games this season, his talent is undeniable; in February, teammate Bellingham even called him the club’s most talented player.

“You know, Rodrygo is so underappreciated.” In an interview with CBS Sports Golazo, Bellingham stated.

He is, in my opinion, the team’s most talented and gifted player.

“I believe his abilities with the football… He’ll somehow flick the ball up while we’re playing around, and you’ll ask yourself, “How did he do that?” That’s what I’m attempting to do.

“I’m doing things like twisting my ankles. Playing with both of them is enjoyable.

“They will win it for you if you put them in positions where they can influence the games.”
