Barcelona’s 4-3 victory over Real Madrid on Sunday afternoon moved them one step closer to winning La Liga. Hansi Flick’s team won the match and maybe the league title as goals from Eric Garcia, Lamine Yamal, and Raphinha offset a hat-trick from Kylian Mbappe. It was Barcelona’s fourth El Clasico match of the season, and they had won all four.
Early in the match, Carlo Ancelotti’s team jumped out to a 2-0 lead, but Barcelona rallied and were by much the superior team by the time the final whistle blew. Madrid had a terrible day, and everyone on the team suffered except for Mbappe, who looked amazing leading the lines.
Madrid supporters were eager to vent their annoyance on social media over two players in particular who let them down against Flick’s team.
Madrid Fans Aren’t Happy With Vazquez and Ceballos
The pair were very poor against Barcelona
While nearly every member of the Madrid squad had a difficult game against Barcelona, Dani Ceballos and Lucas Vazquez stood out for all the wrong reasons. The pair struggled to keep up with their opponents and had a nightmare against the Catalan giants. They were so bad that they were substituted throughout the game; Vazquez was substituted just before the game ended, and Ceballos was substituted at halftime.
Madrid supporters are furious with their performances since they were unable to compete. “Lucas Vazquez & Ceballos should never wear the Madrid jersey ever again,” one fan wrote on X (Twitter), while another believed they were assisting Barcelona, writing: “Ceballos and Lucas Vazquez played for Barcelona not for Madrid.”
One third supporter demanded that the players be sold right away, saying, “Sell Vazquez and Ceballos now.” A fourth concurred, saying, “Sell Ceballos, sell Vazquez, and let Perez retire.”
Rather than mince words, a fifth fan said bluntly, “Vazquez and Ceballos are so bad, man.” The player’s errors were noted by another, who posted: “Vazquez and Ceballos with errors leading to goals.”
