Real Madrid fans make Trent Alexander-Arnold confession as ex-Liverpool star makes debut during Club World Cup

After Trent Alexander-Arnold’s Real Madrid debut in the Club World Cup, Real Madrid supporters have voiced their opinions.

The first year of the new format’s Club World Cup began last weekend in the USA, featuring competition from some of the largest football teams.

Seeing a number of new arrivals in action before the 2025–2026 season began was possibly the most thrilling aspect of the competition for supporters.

During the first few days of the competition, Rayan Cherki and Tijjani Reijnders of Manchester City made their club debuts, but Alexander-Arnold was without a doubt the most well-known player to make their debut for a new team.

The former Liverpool player made his Real Madrid debut during their first match against Al Hilal after his contentious move, and supporters of the La Liga team have expressed their opinions about his debut.

Alexander-Arnold’s Liverpool contract expires this summer, and rumors of his “dream” move to Real Madrid first surfaced before the 2024–25 season.

After the 26-year-old finally announced in May that he would be leaving his boyhood club, Real Madrid made the decision to pay Liverpool £10 million to sign the defender ahead of schedule so he could play in the Club World Cup a few weeks later.

Alexander-Arnold obviously had trouble settling into his new role as a Real Madrid player because his error allowed Al Hilal to take the lead in the game, only to have it disallowed for offside.

Trent lost more duels than any other player on the field throughout the first half, so it’s reasonable to say that Real Madrid supporters weren’t impressed.

“I see what Liverpool fans are saying about Trent’s defending in literally the first 5 minutes!” confessed a Real Madrid supporter in response to his performance on the social media site X.

Another person added: “To be honest, Trent Alexander Arnold’s debut hasn’t been great. I don’t think he’s a Real Madrid-caliber addition, but he might be better than Lucas Vazquez.

Additionally, someone wrote: “My initial thoughts about Trent wearing a Real Madrid shirt It takes a lot of effort to get off the ball. Rodrygo’s inverted runs effectively force him to play RWB in order to provide the team with “deep width” in build-up.

“The backline is being exposed as a result of not tracking back quickly enough. In contrast, a Liverpool supporter made the quip, “Trent looks like an even worse defender than Alexander-Arnold was.”

Alexander-Arnold will return to action for Real Madrid on Sunday night at Charlotte’s Bank of America Stadium when they play Mexican team Pachuca in their second Club World Cup match.
