The debate regarding which of England’s 92 football stadiums is the best home ground in the country has finally been resolved thanks to the efforts of a prominent presenter who travelled to all of the stadiums.
There is nothing quite like being able to witness your favourite team play in person at their own stadium, despite the fact that football fans all over the country enjoy watching their teams compete each week from the convenience of their own homes.
Naturally, the rivalries that exist within the sport of football are so intense that fans have been debating for a long time which team in the English pyramid has the best home stadium. The likes of Anfield, Old Trafford, and St. James’ Park are frequently mentioned in the discussion by fans.
However, the debate was finally resolved when the legendary talkSPORT presenter Adrian Durham revealed his top 10 football stadiums in the English leagues. He did this after taking the time to finish the ’92’ challenge.
When Durham went to Fleetwood Town’s Highbury Stadium in September for their match against Morecambe, he was finally able to experience the final stadium across the English pyramid that he had not yet visited. Morecambe and Fleetwood Town played to a 2-2 draw.
The 55-year-old individual, who had visited all 92 home grounds by this point, had no reservations when asked to name which of them was the best, and his response might come as a surprise to you.
“I went to QPR versus Crystal Palace in the League Cup, and it reminded me how much I loved it,” the 55-year-old said as he declared Loftus Road to be his favourite stadium.
There is a housing estate in the middle of London where it is located. In addition to being close to the pitch, the corners have been filled in.
“I simply adore it for the most part. This is yet another instance in which the atmosphere is phenomenal when they are performing exceptionally well.
If a ground were to be located in the middle of a residential area, that would be the ideal situation. And I adore it.
Loftus Road has been the arena where the Queens Park Rangers have played their home games for more than a century, ever since the club moved into the stadium in 1917.
As a result of the intense atmosphere that is created by diehard fans throughout the entirety of the game, Durham’s second favourite is a stadium that frequently makes its way onto the shortlist of must-visit football grounds.
“I lived and worked in Leeds so I went quite a lot and looking at parts of the outside of it, I would say you’re taken back to the 70s because it feels like nothing’s changed,” said the regular contributor to talkSPORT.
“So you’re working with Don Revie and Billy Bremner and everything else,” the speaker said.
“I believe that it possesses a wonderful nostalgic charm, and there is a history there. Additionally, it is a city that only has one club.
“In terms of match atmosphere, Leeds are no.1.”
