Premier League in swift U-turn over Arne Slot ‘extended ban’ as Merseyside derby row takes surprise twist

After Arne Slot was sent off following Liverpool’s 2-2 draw against Everton at Goodison Park on Wednesday evening, the Premier League is said to have made a “U-turn” on his touchline ban. Slot was sent off after the match.

Immediately following the game, Slot, who is 46 years old, became enraged and approached the officiating team. However, he and his assistant, Sipke Hulshoff, were both dismissed from the game by referee Michael Oliver.

A statement was issued by the Premier League on their official website on Thursday morning. The statement read as follows: “Liverpool head coach Arne Slot was dismissed at the end of the Merseyside derby for using language that was offensive, insulting, or abusive.” As a consequence of this, he will be suspended from the touchline for two matches.

Nevertheless, in a peculiar turn of events, the statement was later removed, and James Pearce of The Athletic reported that the information that was made public was, in fact, a “mistake” made by the league.

During an appearance on X, he confirmed, “Yeah, it was a mistake by the Premier League.” The Football Association has not yet decided what course of action to take with regard to the referee’s report. The decision regarding whether or not to charge Slot is due within three working days. As things currently stand, he is not prohibited from working the touchline on Sunday.

Lewis Steele, who works for the Mail, provided the following explanation: “Although this is a bit technical, Arne Slot is not prohibited from coming to the touchline for the Wolves game.”

The FA will examine the report of the referees today and decide whether or not to file charges against him.

It is dependent on whether they consider it to be a “standard case” with a predetermined sanction or a “non standard case” that causes a hearing to take place.

Due to the fact that he has already committed a touchline suspension for this season, there is a possibility that it will be the latter. It is highly improbable that the issue will be resolved before Sunday.

“So to conclude he could be in the dugout against Wolves and then be charged/banned/fined at a later date.”

The Premier League match between Liverpool and Wolves is scheduled to take place this weekend at Anfield.

“FA have until close of play on Monday to charge Slot,” according to his statement. After that, Liverpool will have three days to respond (with evidence to support their claim if they so desire), and then the Football Association will have an additional three days to respond.

It is required that a hearing take place within ten days of that. Therefore, it is possible that there will be a delay of two to three weeks here.

It is still unknown exactly what Slot said to Oliver, but Jeremy Freeman, a professional lip reader, provided some insight into what Slot may have said to Oliver. Slot is the manager of Liverpool.

That is not a push, is it? If you go back and watch that piece of content once more, it is a f**king disgrace. It is said that Slot yelled at one of the assistant referees before simultaneously congratulating the other on his performance.

In addition, it was believed that he added, “Sure, you give me a red for that?” “I will look into it for a later time… you and I, are we all right? Please show me a red card, and we’ll discuss this further later.
