Premier League defender reveals ‘dream’ of joining Manchester City – Would ‘tremble’ if Pep Guardiola called

One of the Premier League’s most exceptional defensive players, who has Chelsea interested, has showered Manchester City with accolades.

This summer, the Stamford Bridge team is engaged in another major hiring spree, with a portion of their focus going towards finding a replacement for the illustrious Brazilian defender Thiago Silva.

Chelsea officials looked to Nottingham Forest’s Murillo after he left the London club at the end of the previous season in an attempt to find a replacement hire for the position, but little to no progress had been made beyond making preliminary inquiries.

Although the defender sent a strong message to Manchester City in a recent interview, it is unclear how much the player would actually want to be a part of Enzo Maresca’s new endeavour.

Murillo of Nottingham Forest was not afraid to compliment Manchester City players and staff on their accomplishments over the years and reiterate his “dream” of playing for the Etihad Stadium team when speaking to the “Benja Me Mucho” YouTube channel.

According to the 21-year-old, “They’re surreal.” They were producing a lot of stuff already, and it was effective. These days, I think Real Madrid and Manchester City are the two greatest teams in the world. Their coach and the components they have make a big difference.

What would be his response, though, if Pep Guardiola “called” him to express interest in collaborating with him at Manchester City?

“I would shudder,” the Brazilian said. “I believe that, especially at their current stage, everyone’s dream is to play for Real Madrid or Manchester City these days. They are incredibly competitive, both from the coach and the players, and they win at least one championship each year.

“Guys lose a game and don’t accept it,” he went on. It’s basically a win for the boys, and it works. They are now enjoying the fruits of their labour.

Regretfully, despite Murillo’s obvious aspirations to play for Manchester City soon, the Premier League winners have little to no intention of adding players to the central defence positions this summer.

Jarrad Branthwaite of Everton and England was most recently connected to City, but considering their strength in the position, the team quickly clarified their “surprise” at the rumours.

Manchester City would surprise many if they made a significant investment in a different player, but Pep Guardiola has an abundance of excellent and adaptable options in the middle of defence, with none of his five starting players anticipated to depart this summer.
