A Manchester United supporter has reportedly been taken into custody and charged by the police in connection with an incident that allegedly occurred after the Manchester derby involving Jack Grealish.
On Sunday, the match that took place at Old Trafford ended in a scoreless draw, with neither team posing a significant degree of significant offensive danger.
Grealish came in as a replacement for Ilkay Gundogan in the 74th minute of the game. He replaced Gundogan.
As Grealish was making his way back towards the tunnel after the final whistle blew, it is then said that a United supporter’slapped’ him, as reported by the Daily Mail.
It has been reported that the attacker from City is not believed to have sustained major injuries.
As a result of an incident that took place at Old Trafford on Sunday, Greater Manchester Police have issued a statement to the same publication stating that a supporter has been charged with assault.
According to the statement, Alfie Holt, who is twenty years old and lives on Haven Drive in Droylsden, has been charged with assault. The Manchester Magistrates Court is where he is scheduled to appear.
“This charge relates to an incident which took place at Old Trafford Football Club yesterday.”
While this was going on, United and City both declined to comment on what is considered a live inquiry.
The Greater Manchester Police have been contacted by SPORTbible in order to obtain additional feedback.
As a result of an explicit chant made at City player Phil Foden by United supporters after he was substituted, the incident occurred on the following day.
Pep Guardiola, the manager of City, voiced his disapproval of the chant, which included a reference to Foden’s mother, at his news conference following the match.
Guardiola noted that the supporters who were engaged shown a “lack of class,” and he explained further by saying, “It’s not United, it’s the individuals, you know?
“We are so exposed in the screen in world football, particularly football players, managers and owners,” said the manager on the pitch.
“To tell you the truth, I have no idea what the individuals who are involved with Phil’s mother are thinking of. That is a lack of class and integrity, and they need to feel ashamed of themselves.
But the situation is as it is. That is occurring in every location. Not only in the United Kingdom, but everywhere else as well.”
The songs have been criticised by the Football Association (FA), which is ‘aware’ of them, according to Chris Wheeler of the Daily Mail. However, the FA will not take any action against United since the chants do not constitute a violation of the regulations.
