Philippe Clement expresses concern about Norwich City’s claim regarding Kasper Hogh’s move

Kasper Høgh, a Norwich City target, scored for Bodø/Glimt in the Champions League against Atlético Madrid, advancing them to the knockout phase.

The 25-year-old, who scored 17 goals in 28 Eliteserien games in the 2025 season, made headlines after scoring twice against Premier League champions Manchester City in the penultimate league phase match.

Celtic expressed interest in Hogh, but Norwich placed a €8 million bid on Wednesday, only hours before he won the match in Madrid.

Given his elite scoring last season, both in league play and in the Europa League, it was always considered an unlikely coup if the Canaries could complete the move, but three goals against two of Europe’s top teams in the previous few weeks have made those modest odds even more appealing.

FLW’s Norwich fan commentator, Zeke Downes, is skeptical that a deal can be reached right now. However, the Canaries may have one negotiation advantage: their manager, Philippe Clement.

Norwich City fan pundit evaluates the odds of signing Kasper Hogh.

Many people did not expect Philippe Clement to join a team in the Championship relegation zone. However, the Belgian coach did, and the Canaries reaped the benefits.

Norwich has been one of the division’s best teams since Clement took over at Carrow Road, and he has turned some players who were underperforming or possibly overlooked under Liam Manning into top-tier second-tier performers.

Although Norwich would have a strong negotiation position under Clement, Downes admits that convincing Hogh to join the Championship may be challenging.”I’m worried he won’t join now,” the fan pundit stated.”I didn’t think he would anyway, but now he’s scored these goals in the Champions League against big clubs to send them through, it won’t help our cause at all.”It will focus attention on him and attract teams that are a better fit for him. Although some clubs near the bottom may require a striker, it is unlikely that this will happen.Unless Clement has such strong persuasion skills that he could make it happen. So, who knows. He’s performed miracles with several of our squad members, so he might be able to get this one done, and if he does, it’ll be a major coup.”

Finally, there’s a case to be made that Norwich doesn’t need a new striker, given the emergence of Jovon Makama, who has softened the pain of Josh Sargent’s impending departure.

Given how potential the 21-year-old is, Downes does not want to do anything that could jeopardize his progress.

While signing Hogh would be significant, he is not concerned about losing out on Makama, an exciting prospect who might rocket the Canaries up the division.I am concerned that the signing will hinder Makama’s path. “I don’t want him pushed out on the wing when it’s currently working for him up front,” Downes added.I don’t think we should change anything if it’s working, even though having squad depth would be beneficial. But even then, it is less likely to occur presently.”

Kasper Hogh has drawn additional interest, but primarily from championship rivals.

Despite the events of the past week, Championship rivals Ipswich Town and Wrexham have expressed interest in Hogh, according to an exclusive report from Football League World.

If the 25-year-old’s destination in the next days is the second tier, Norwich should be much more confident in completing the transfer.

While Ipswich and Wrexham are now in contention for Premier League promotion, Norwich is an exciting project under Philippe Clement, and if Downes is correct about the pull power the Belgian manager may offer, the Canaries may be successful in their pursuit.

Hogh has been a goal-scoring machine in Norway over the last year, and while some neutrals may believe that a transfer to the Championship is undervaluing him, Norwich will not be concerned.

If the Canaries can acquire his signature before the window closes on Monday, the rest of the Championship will be placed on notice for the remainder of the season.
