Phil Parkinson speaks out about Paul Mullin’s plight after Wrexham terminated his loan stay.

Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson has stated that Paul Mullin’s loan with Wigan Athletic has been terminated.

Phil Parkinson has confirmed that Wrexham striker Paul Mullin’s loan with Wigan Athletic has been terminated.

Wrexham loaned Paul Mullin to Wigan Athletic during the summer transfer window. He scored four goals in 20 League One outings for the Latics but has missed the previous four Wigan games.

Phil Parkinson has revealed that the iconic Wrexham forward’s loan stay with Wigan has been terminated, and he is ready to return to the Racecourse.

Parkinson revealed the news after Wrexham defeated Derby County 2-1 in the Championship on Sunday, their fourth consecutive win in the league.

Phil Parkinson confirms Paul Mullin’s return to Wrexham.

Parkinson told the BBC following Sunday’s win over Derby County that Mullin’s loan spell had ended and that he and the 31-year-old striker would discuss his future when he returned to the Racecourse.

Parkinson explained: “Mulls’ loan spell has ended. We’ll talk to him this week when he returns. He needs to train this week because he missed a few days of training.

“I just chatted with him briefly over the Christmas time. We haven’t had much training time due to games and hotel stays. I’ll contact him on the way back today, and we’ll have a wonderful conversation when he arrives this week.”

Mullin scored 105 goals for Wrexham during 165 games. He helped the team to three promotions and remains a club icon despite falling out of favour last season, scoring only three goals in 26 League One outings for the Dragons.

What happens next for Paul Mullin at Wrexham?

Last summer, it seemed inevitable that Wrexham would sell the striker. His temporary exit caused some questions, but it was a nice opportunity for Mullin to regain his footing and scoring form.

And he showed signs of his former personality with Wigan. However, his time with the club did not go as well as many had hoped, and his future is unknown, with another move in the January transfer window appearing possible.

He is under contract at the racecourse until 2027. Regardless, expect the Dragons to want him off their books for good, and Mullin to want a real fresh start with a new and permanent home, considering that he appears to have no future at Wrexham.

Wrexham are reportedly interested in signing a £14 million striker whose identity has yet to be revealed. Mullin then appears to be far removed from the situation.
