Petition launched to move Liverpool’s expected Premier League trophy parade to London

A contentious petition has surfaced on the internet, proposing that Liverpool should move any victory parade that takes place at the conclusion of the season to London.

Arne Slot’s first season as manager of Liverpool brought the club one step closer to winning the Premier League title. Last week, Liverpool extended their lead on top of the table to 13 points by defeating Newcastle United by a score of 2-0. This victory brought Liverpool one step closer to claiming the title.

In the event that they are successful in claiming their 20th English top flight title, the Reds will make it a point to celebrate the accomplishment with their supporters by putting on a trophy parade through the streets of Liverpool.

Before the possible celebration, however, a shocking petition has been posted on the internet, requesting that the club take into consideration the possibility of moving the parade to London.

During the 2021/22 season, Liverpool held a trophy parade through the city after they won both the Carabao Cup final and the FA Cup final. It is estimated that approximately 500,000 fans were present for the parade.

But one fan based outside of Liverpool has complained that holding the trophy parade in the city every time the club when a trophy is won neglects the fanbase across the UK.

Therefore, they created a petition to suggest that, should Liverpool win the Premier League as expected, they should change things up and move the parade to London instead.

A petition that was created on Change.org by a user known as “King Koppite” reads as follows: “I, like many other devoted Liverpool FC fans, live in London, which is a significant distance from our team’s place of origin in the North.”

As a result of the fact that the majority of Liverpool FC’s devoted supporters reside in the South of England and beyond, we are required to undertake a journey that is both time-consuming and expensive whenever we want to participate in the club’s victory parades.

“What we propose is not a disregard for Liverpool’s local heritage; rather, it is an acknowledgement of the club’s national and even global reach,” Moving the title parade to London would simply be a more pragmatic and inclusive approach, given the large number of Liverpool FC supporters who live in the southern region.

The following is an excerpt from the petition: “According to the statistics, London has the highest concentration of football fans in the entirety of England (BBC Radio 5 Live’s Football Fans Census, 2019).”

As a result of moving the parade to the nation’s capital, a greater number of fans would be given the opportunity to take part in the celebration, which would extend the sense of community and shared victory.

As a result, we propose that the location of Liverpool Football Club’s title parades be reevaluated in order to better accommodate a larger portion of the fanbase, as well as to create celebrations that are more inclusive and accessible. Please sign this petition to assist in bringing the Liverpool Football Club championship parade to fans in the southern region.

The petition could have been started by a rival fan who wanted to make fun of Liverpool despite the fact that they have been successful this season. This is a possibility that cannot be ruled out.
