Pep Guardiola called player at 2am and told him he’d make him ‘best in world’ but transfer never happened

A superstar player received a phone call from Pep Guardiola at two in the morning, in which he promised to make him “the best player in the world.” However, the transfer did not take place.

The likes of Lionel Messi, Andres Iniesta, and Xavi are just a few of the players that Guardiola has managed that are considered to be among the very best in the world of football.

During his time at Barcelona, he was a coach for Messi, Iniesta, and Xavi, among various other players.

After leaving Barcelona, Guardiola moved on to Bayern Munich, where he collaborated with a number of notable players, including Arjen Robben, Robert Lewandowski, and Phillip Lahm, among of others.

He made numerous attempts to acquire Neymar while he was at Bayern, and he went to great lengths in his pursuit of the standout forward.

Neymar was reportedly contacted by Guardiola at two in the morning in an attempt to secure his services, as stated by the young player himself.

At the same time that he was making a compelling argument to sign the Brazilian, he assured him that he would make him “the best player in the world.”

“I almost went to Bayern… because of Pep Guardiola,” told Neymar, who revealed his decision. My father incessantly called me at two in the morning after I had won the Puskas Award. My response was that he instructed me to open the door… “I was wearing boxers.” My dad, Pep Guardiola, and the translator were the ones who did it!

“I want to sign you and bring you with me to whatever club I go to,” Pep said to me. “I want to bring you with me.” I promise to make you the most skilled player in the entire world.

As he opens his laptop and shows me a piece of paper, he tells me where I would play… An additional statement made by Pep was, “I’ll change my name if you don’t score sixty goals in a season.”

It was then that I said, ‘Okay, but which team is it?’ I am unable to tell you at this time because it has not yet been released, Pep said. After being persuaded by me, he announced, “I’m signing with Bayern.” Although it was a chilly city, I will make sure that you are taken care of.

“In the end I decided to join Barcelona.”

In the same way that Neymar hinted about his transfer to Barcelona, he turned down a move to Germany by signing with the Catalan giants. He remained with them for four seasons before making the move to Paris Saint-Germain.
