Paul Scholes, Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard debate settled as top 10 best Premier League midfielders ranked

The dispute between Paul Scholes, Steven Gerrard, and Frank Lampard has been one of the most contentious topics in the history – English football. Former England custodian Ben Foster only added fuel to the fire when he named the best 10 midfielders in the history of the Premier League.

Foster rated Watford, Manchester United, Birmingham City, and West Brom on his cherished list during a part on his program called “Fozcast.” During his tenure at Watford, Manchester United, and West Brom, Foster made a total of 390 appearances in the Premier League.

After that, he continued to go through a series of names, beginning with the pair of Manchester City players David Silva and Yaya Toure, who were placed on each side of his former colleague Ryan Giggs, who finished in ninth position during the competition.

Despite being more of a winger than a midfielder, Giggs was joined by fellow countryman and two-time Player of the Year winner of the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Gareth Bale, who finished in seventh place.

In the next round, the spotlight was directed towards one of the most intense rivalries in the history of the Premier League. However, it was former United captain Roy Keane who was selected for the team, despite the fact that Arsenal’s renowned captain Patrick Vieira was ranked sixth and fifth, respectively.

However, Gerrard’s position on the list is possibly the most contentious aspect of the situation. He was ranked fourth, despite the fact that many people consider him to be the greatest complete midfielder who has ever competed in the English top flight.

The legend of Liverpool had Lampard and Kevin De Bruyne placed higher than him in the top three, and then he concluded with his old comrade Scholes, who referred to him as “the best midfielder in the history of the Premier League.”

Foster stated that there was “massive umming and ahhing” with his choices, which is something that his fellow panellists strongly disagree with. Following his assertion that he did not believe his selections “were a million miles off,” his co-host Tubes made the suggestion that “some of the ordering is wrong.”

This is the complete list of Ben Foster’s top 10 midfielders in the Premier League:
11. David Silva, who plays for Manchester City

Ryan Giggs, who plays for Manchester United (19)

Yaya Toure, who plays for Manchester City

7th place: Gareth Bale (Spurs)

Patrick Vieira, who plays for Arsenal

5. Roy Keane, who plays for Manchester United

5. Steven Gerrard, who plays for Liverpool

Frank Lampard, who plays for Chelsea

Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne comes in second.

1. Manchester United’s Paul Scholes (first place)

On TikTok, users were quick to express their disagreement with Foster’s placement, with one user expressing their ire by saying, “Steven Gerrard fourth is crazy.”

An additional comment was made: “If you don’t know it’s Paul Scholes then you don’t know ball.”

A third individual pointed out: “If Bale is a midfielder then so is Ronaldo, therefore Ronaldo is first.”

“Cesc Fabregas must have played golf,” said a last user, pointing out a major absence in the article.
