Paul Mullin appears to pull out of BITING Birmingham star during wild Wrexham clash

Wrexham forward Paul Mullin seemingly just evaded biting an adversary as the Red Dragons suffered a 3-1 defeat to Birmingham City.

On Monday night at St Andrew’s, Wrexham faced Birmingham City in a match referred to as the ‘Hollywood derby’ because to the Red Dragons’ association with Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, while Tom Brady holds a minority ownership in the Blues. The NFL star’s club won bragging rights and three crucial points in a confrontation between two undefeated League One teams.

Wrexham initially led in the much awaited confrontation between the two League One powerhouses, but Birmingham’s skill ultimately triumphed. Jack Marriott netted a goal for Wrexham, seizing an opportunity from an early corner in the initial minutes.

Birmingham responded when striker Jay Stansfield scored an equaliser 22 minutes into the match, resulting in a 1-1 score at halftime. Stansfield scored a second goal seven minutes into the second half, followed by Tomoki Iwata, who increased the score to 3-1 just before to the hour mark. Krystian Bielik received a red card late in the match, although the Blues maintained their lead to secure a 3-1 victory.

Nevertheless, an unusual incident transpired prior to Bielik’s expulsion for a second cautionable offence. Mullin seems to have earnestly contemplated – and even attempted – to bite the calf of Birmingham left-back Alec Cochrane.

Mullin and Cochrane clashed, and replays suggested that the striker contemplated biting the 24-year-old’s leg. It was one of numerous intriguing instances involving Mullin throughout the intense confrontation.

Mullin incited a widespread altercation between the two teams at St Andrew’s, when the Wrexham striker responded vehemently to a challenge, resulting in both groups of players assaulting one another on the pitch. Tensions escalated once again when both teams engaged in a brawl.

In a post-match interview, Cochrane commented on the altercation between players, stating to Sky Sports, “I am not entirely certain; I was simply on the ground.” Handbags created from nothing… a complete absurdity, really.

Wrexham co-owner McElhenney and Birmingham co-owner Brady attended with NFL legend David Beckham. Accompanying Beckham was his former Manchester United and England colleague Gary Neville.

Prior to the match, Wrexham topped League One, possessing a superior goal difference compared to Charlton Athletic after securing four victories and one tie in their initial five matches. Birmingham occupied sixth position with 11 points; however, a win against Wrexham elevates the Blues behind their Welsh counterparts on goal difference, with a match in hand.
