Although it is not time to breathe a sigh of relief just yet, rumors indicate that one Sheffield Wednesday applicant has traveled to Hillsborough and is likely to make a bid for the club.
The Dejphon Chansiri period is finally ended, but the Owls have entered administration and received a 12-point deduction, turning their Championship survival effort into their own mission impossible.
The good times, however, are on the way. Fans flocked to the club shop when Chansiri’s departure was confirmed, and they filled Hillsborough for a 1-1 draw with Norwich City. This is finally a club that is pulling in the same direction from top to bottom, and co-administrator Kris Wigfield expressed gratitude to supporters earlier this week.
The Begbies Traynor managing partner stated: “Before the Norwich game, we wanted to provide as quick an update as possible to keep fans informed.
“Whilst we are bound by confidentiality for much of this process, it is worth saying that the fantastic support of the fans through attending matches and buying merchandise from the club shop has been vital to running the club and the ground day-to-day – this includes paying the wages of employees and players.”

Prospective purchasers have shown a lot of interest in Sheffield Wednesday. Several people have purportedly offered verification of £50 million in funds, with John McEvoy and former Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley among those listed.
Administrators have set a flexible deadline of November 21 for when they want new owners in, and the most recent update indicates that they are on track to meet it this month.
Sheffield Wednesday takeover candidates undergo a Hillsborough tour.
According to Wigfield, an unknown Sheffield Wednesday takeover candidate has now visited Hillsborough for a tour of the stadium and other facilities, including the training area. Other parties are anticipated to follow suit, with opening bids beginning as the Owls get closer to welcome new owners.
“For those who have provided proof of funds, we have informed them that we are imposing a soft deadline of November 21 for their indicative offers. That should allow us to determine which of them are truly interested and what types of offers we are considering, and then we can narrow it down to a smaller shortlist.
“Today (Thursday), we exhibited one of the seven around the training ground and Hillsborough; another two or three will be seen next week. So it’s coming to the point where we’re starting to get into the details and ask the kinds of questions that will determine whether they want to acquire the club or not.”
The 12-point hit delivered Sheffield Wednesday an unmistakable blow, but with Chansiri out, things are starting to look up at Hillsborough.
