Official Palestine Account Reacts After Italy End Israel’s 2026 World Cup Dream

Italy beat Israel on Tuesday night.

The official Palestine social media account has reacted after Italy effectively eliminated Israel’s chances of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup.

Gennaro Gattuso’s side defeated Israel 3-0 on Tuesday night at the Bluenergy Stadium in Udine, with Mateo Retegui scoring twice and Gianluca Mancini scoring once.

As a result of Italy’s victory, Israel now faces an almost impossible task: securing a play-off position.

They would need to win their final remaining match while hoping Italy loses both of theirs. Israel will also require a large goal difference swing of 15.

Following Italy’s triumph on Tuesday night, the official Palestine account shared the final score alongside a pasta emoji.

More over 70,000 people have reportedly been killed by Israeli forces in Gaza since Israel’s assault on Palestine began in October 2023.

The war began when Hamas, the group that governs the Gaza Strip, stormed Israel, killing approximately 1200 people and seizing approximately 250 captives.

A United Nations commission has since deemed Israel’s onslaught on Gaza a genocide, and Gaza meets all three UN famine criteria.

Last Monday, a cease-fire agreement was reached that included the exchange of hostages.

Prior to the kickoff between Italy and Israel, a segment of the home crowd was heard booing the Israeli national song, which could result in a FIFA fine.

In November 2021, Scotland was fined over £8000 when a few of their fans booed the Israeli national anthem at Hampden Park.

Scotland was accused of violating one of FIFA’s rules, which stated: “Order and security at matches (disturbance during national anthems, use of objects – flag – to transmit a message that is not appropriate for a sports event).”

Israel will finish their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign next month, when they face Moldova at the Zimbru Stadium on November 16.
