Nottingham Forest ‘Decide’ Postecoglou Future Ahead Of Crunch Newcastle Clash

Ange Postecoglou has won none of his first six games at Nottingham Forest and is already under intense pressure.

Ange Postecoglou’s job at Nottingham Forest is already under jeopardy ahead of this weekend’s game against Newcastle, according to reports.

After being fired as Spurs manager despite winning their first title in 17 years, Postecoglou was named Forest manager 24 days ago, following Nuno Espirito Santo’s contentious dismissal.

However, the Australian has had a dreadful start at City Ground, failing to win in his first six games, with two draws and four losses.

The most recent occurred on Thursday night in the Europa League, when Forest were defeated 3-2 by Danish club FC Midtjylland.

Postecoglou was met with chants of ‘You’re going dismissed in the morning’ from his own supporters, who were already putting pressure on the 60-year-old.

Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis has terminated a manager in a short period of time, and according to The Times, the forthcoming match against Newcastle is critical for Postecoglou’s future.

According to the source, while he will be in charge for the trip to St James’ Park, “a negative performance and result could mean the club’s hierarchy reviews his position during the international break”.

Forest are now 17th in the Premier League and were eliminated from the Carabao Cup by Championship side Swansea City.

In a post-game interview with TNT Sports on Thursday, Postecoglou addressed the chanting from his followers, adding that fans are “entitled to their opinion”.

Despite the dreadful run in which Forest have conceded 13 goals, the former Celtic manager remains sure that the team is progressing and that the environment will soon improve.

There is an understanding that a move to a more attacking style of play from what Forest employed under Espirito Santo will occur, but results must be delivered quickly.

“I get the mood around the place isn’t going to be great, I understand people’s kind of attitude at the moment, particularly towards me, but I never worry about that,” he said during a presser.

“This is not uncharted territory for me. I truly feel that we are on the right route, and that once we get past this moment of uncertainty, we will be on a positive path.

“I still believe that, aside from their attitude towards me, they were supporting the squad, which I believe is the most essential thing. Of course, I would prefer people to be positive.

“If we start winning games of football, the atmosphere will change.”

Following the trip to Newcastle, Forest will return from the international break with a visit to Chelsea, followed by a Europa League meeting with Porto and a trip to high flying Bournemouth.
