Norwich City boss Philippe Clement drops a new twist as the latest update on Josh Sargent emerges, causing a stir online.

Norwich City and Josh Sargent’s relationship has deteriorated significantly over the last month. However, the just turned 26-year-old is still on the books at Carrow Road, though not for much longer.

Sargent hasn’t featured for the Canaries since January 4, when they lost 2-0 to Stoke City.

He withdrew from the next weekend’s FA Cup third round clash against Walsall and has since been frozen out of first-team action, with a £15.5 million move to Toronto FC all but secured ahead of the new MLS season, which begins this weekend.

Ironically, Norwich have won seven of the eight games since Sargent’s withdrawal from selection, with at least two goals in each. They scored three times in two games and five times in the other two!

With Jovon Makama emerging as a consistent frontman and new signing Mo Toure scoring five goals in his first three games for the Canaries, it’s evident that Sargent isn’t missed at all.

Norwich City’s birthday message for Josh Sargent sparks anger online.

Despite everything that has happened in the last month, Sargent remains a Norwich player. He did not make his move during the January transfer window, but there was no rush, as the MLS window is open until the end of March.

The Canaries put a Happy Birthday greeting on X for the American frontman’s 26th birthday, although it may not be considered a “happy” birthday post.”Josh Sargent turns 26 today 🎈,” reads the message, in an almost anti-happy birthday wish, emphasizing the sentiment between both parties involved.

Norwich fans expressed their well-wishes, both positive and negative, as their desired striker turned 26.Who said that? “Sorry, new club, I don’t know who you are now,” wrote one admirer.”I hope he has a good time looking at homes for sale in Toronto on Right Move all day, knowing he will never kick a ball for us again,” commented another.

Others appreciated the X admin’s message wording — “Haha, that’s the most backhanded happy birthday OAT (of all time)” and “Not even a happy birthday, lovely work from the admin,” among the responses.

And while some, albeit a small percentage, of fans put aside their emotions to wish him a happy birthday (one saying that “he’s still a human being and everyone deserves a happy birthday!”), the overarching message is that almost everyone associated with the club can’t wait for him to leave.

Norwich City’s Josh Sargent saga is coming to a conclusion soon.

With the club’s recent success on the pitch, Sargent’s presence is now hanging like a nasty odor, and those at Carrow Road can’t wait to wash their hands of the situation.

Fortunately for everyone, a move appears to be imminent, as MLS club Toronto FC has reportedly agreed to a £15.5 million agreement with the Canaries for the 26-year-old.

Given the American’s downturn in form since scoring five goals in the first four games of the season, this appears to be a nice recoup for Norwich, as well as a fair return on the £8 million they paid for him in 2021.

It’s a shame that the connection between the club and the forward has deteriorated over the last month.

Prior to this season, Sargent was hailed as a hero at Carrow Road, being the only constant in the team as other key players left for greener pastures, some even joining arch rivals Ipswich Town.

However, their birthday tweet today and the reaction to it show that the Canaries are looking forward to being rid of the 26-year-old.
