According to a fresh source, Nicolas Jackson will not join Bayern Munich on a season-long loan after Chelsea appeared to pull the plug on a transaction that had the potential to make football history.
Earlier today, it was widely speculated that Jackson would join the Bundesliga winners on a world record loan deal for up to £69.2 million.
Chelsea was expected to get an initial loan fee of £13 million for the striker. If Bayern exercised their option to make the move permanent, the Blues would have received an additional £56.2 million next summer.
However, things changed dramatically on Saturday when Chelsea told Bayern that they would not be progressing with the intended loan when Liam Delap suffered a hamstring injury in their match against Fulham.
Chelsea has urged Jackson to return to London, according to The Athletic.

Jackson flew to Germany for a medical on Saturday, as shown in the video above, and was even photographed arriving at Munich Airport ahead of the planned transaction.
Sky reporter Florian Plettenberg shared footage of Jackson’s entrance with the comment, “Medical will be completed shortly. Following that, he will sign his contract.
According to him, the “€15m loan deal between FC Bayern and Chelsea is done – as revealed this morning.”
However, according to the dependable David Ornstein, the deal may be off when Enzo Maresca stated on Saturday that Delap might be out for up to eight weeks.
In recent weeks, Jackson has been linked with moves to AC Milan, Newcastle, and Aston Villa.
The Senegalese international has fallen down the pecking order since the acquisition of Liam Delap and Joao Pedro this summer.
Earlier this month, Enzo Maresca refused to rule out Jackson’s departure.
When asked if the striker could go this summer, he said: “When the transfer market is open, regrettably or luckily, everything can happen. This includes Nico’s situation.
“We’ve also had two strikers join, Joao [Pedro] and Liam [Delap]. So, we’ll see what happens.
