Newcastle Release Extremely Blunt Statement Following Alexander Isak’s Move to Liverpool

Alexander Isak has finally made his move. The Swedish striker has left Newcastle United for Liverpool in a British record move worth an estimated £125 million. After a lengthy transfer story, the Reds finally signed their man in the dying hours of the window, formally announcing his arrival on Monday night.

No one knew how things would turn out for Isak, who went to extreme lengths to ensure that the upper management at St James’ Park were fully aware of his plans to go to Merseyside. The 25-year-old went on strike and even posted a statement on social media saying promises had been ‘broken’.

Nonetheless, Newcastle and Liverpool were able to reach an agreement on the eve of the transfer deadline, and Isak completed all formalities on the day itself. He will now fly to Sweden to join his colleagues for the upcoming international break, before returning to Liverpool to train.

Newcastle bids Isak farewell.

Newcastle stayed firm for weeks despite the fact that one of the world’s top strikers wanted to quit the club. The Magpies finally negotiated deals for Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart and Yoane Wissa from Brentford, insisting that they needed to have their ducks in a row before allowing Isak’s departure.

While they finally let him leave, the north-east club made it clear to Isak and everyone else how they felt about the entire tale. The message on the official website read as follows:

“Newcastle United can confirm the sale of striker Alexander Isak to Liverpool for a large British record sum.

“The Sweden international joined the Magpies from Real Sociedad in 2022 and made 109 appearances in all competitions.”

According to the release, Isak played 109 games in all competitions for Eddie Howe’s side after joining from La Liga club Real Sociedad three years ago. It remains to be seen whether the striker will play for the Reds in their next Premier League match against Burnley following a ‘tough’ summer, in his words.
