A fresh chapter in the Alexander Isak to Liverpool tale.
Newcastle have opened up a hitherto unconsidered possibility for Alexander Isak’s future, according to reports.
With just over two weeks left in the transfer window, Liverpool continues to show interest in Isak.
According to Craig Hope of the Daily Mail, the Sweden international is ‘on strike’ at St James’ Park and hopes to go to Anfield this summer.
It would take a British record amount to agree on Isak’s departure, with Newcastle apparently asking for at least £150 million.
The striker has three years left on his contract, therefore Liverpool’s £110 million approach from earlier this month was immediately rejected.
The Reds have yet to make a second offer, and Isak will miss Newcastle’s Premier League opener against Aston Villa on Saturday while the dispute continues.

According to Newcastle reporter Hope, the Magpies have four alternatives when it comes to Isak’s future, one of which is especially important.
According to reports, Scenario D would include Newcastle signing a direct replacement for Isak rather than two new strikers.
That would leave them with the new signing and Anthony Gordon, who has been playing as a striker in pre-season, as their centre forward options, along with William Osula.
Anthony Elanga can also play striker if needed, but he was almost mainly utilized as a winger or offensive midfielder at Nottingham Forest until joining Newcastle for £55 million earlier this summer.
Who will Newcastle sign?
Newcastle appear to have a few targets in mind for their next striker.
According to Portuguese source Jornal de Noticias (via Sport Witness), the club dispatched scouts to watch Porto and Spain forward Samu Aghehowa earlier this week.
They are also looking to sign Brentford’s Yoane Wissa, who has returned to first-team training after a lengthy absence.
Wissa, like Isak, will not play in Brentford’s first league game against Nottingham Forest.
Keith Andrews, Bees’ head coach, stated, “As a head coach, I want Yoane in the building, to be a member of the first team and squad. I see that moving forward, but I understand his circumstance.
“I have a very good relationship with him, and that will persist, but we have to focus on the players who are ready to play and perform on Sunday and I don’t think Yoane’s in that space.”
