Following the unfortunate outcome, Newcastle supporters expressed their anger against their star striker.
Newcastle United supporters didn’t hold back as they yelled at Alexander Isak during Anthony Gordon’s post-match interview.
Newcastle United began the 2025–26 Premier League season on the road against Aston Villa on Saturday morning.
Winger Gordon began the game in the middle of Newcastle’s assault since star striker Isak was already on the field before his reported transfer to Liverpool.
The game ended in a 0-0 stalemate because, regrettably for Geordie club supporters, the 24-year-old was unable to live up to the lofty expectations established by Isak the previous season.
However, Newcastle supporters punctuated the winger’s post-match interview with a vicious cry directed at Isak, expressing their sentiments about Gordon, Isak, and the current transfer saga.
Isak is now refusing to practice with the Newcastle team in an effort to pressure the team into accepting Liverpool’s British record transfer offer, which is anticipated to arrive before the transfer window ends on September 1.
Although it is understandable that the scenario has caused tension at St. James’ Park, Gordon seemed to downplay it when questioned about it in his TNT Sports post-match interview.
Gordon discussed the Isak saga, saying: “Being such a close-knit group has made it challenging. That’s the first thing that’s happened, and it’s tested us since we’ve never really had any issues in public.
As you can see, we continue to strive for that attitude and unity every day. No matter who you ask, it will never go. We are and always will be a top group because of our unity. In any case, we’re really together.
“I think things like this can battle test you and make you better in the end and I think that will be the case.”
‘There’s only one greedy b******’ was chanted by Newcastle supporters in the background of Gordon’s interview, obviously referring to Isak, suggesting that they don’t share this sentiment.
Gordon, who acknowledges that he is first finding it difficult to adjust, is accepting the task of continuing to start as Newcastle’s striker in Isak’s absence.
“I really like it,” he continued. In any case, I believe that as my career develops, I will become increasingly important. It arrived a little sooner than I had anticipated, but I’m loving it. It will require some acclimatization.
However, it has been widely believed that Newcaslte will promptly replace Isak with another outstanding player to lead the line for the Magpies if he leaves the team in the upcoming weeks. Their top target is Yoane Wissa of Brentford.
