After Paul Scholes, a former midfielder for Manchester United, referred to Neal Maupay as a “idiot” in a recent episode of The Overlap, Neal Maupay has responded to Scholes’ comments on social media by calling him out.
Scholes was a guest on The Overlap Fan Debate alongside Jamie Carragher when the topic of Myles Lewis-Skelly’s celebration against Manchester City came up in conversation. Carragher was also a guest on the show.
After scoring his first goal for Arsenal to make the score 3-1, Lewis-Skelly was criticised for imitating Erling Haaland’s meditation celebration during this month’s match between City and Arsenal. The celebration occurred just moments after Lewis-Skelly scored his first goal for Arsenal.
There have been a number of pundits who have condemned the actions of the teenager, including Paul Scholes, who stated that the teenager was “disrespectful” before implying that Haaland will be motivated by the gesture.
A few moments later, a United supporter named Adam McKola enquired about the distinction between the actions of Lewis-Skelly and the time when someone stole James Maddison’s now-iconic darts celebration.
“Neal Maupay?” Scholes asked in response to the question. Yeah, but he is a complete moron. Regardless, he just goes ahead and takes the p***, doesn’t he?
Maupay reshared the video along with a caption that read, “Surprised Paul Scholes can fit my name in his mouth alongside his daughter’s toes.” This occurred after the clip became extremely popular on social media platforms.
In order to provide some background, Scholes admitted in October 2021 that he had “better weekends” after a video of him chewing his daughter’s toenails became public.
After posting the video to her Instagram story, Alicia Scholes captioned it with the phrase “True love,” indicating that the former Manchester United and England midfielder appeared to be biting her toenails.
According to reports, Maupay made his move to Everton from Brighton in 2022 for a reported fee of fifteen million pounds. At the moment, he is playing for Marseille in Ligue 1 as part of a loan deal that includes an obligation to buy.
The forward, who is 28 years old, made headlines at the end of the previous year, shortly after Everton suffered a defeat at home at the hands of Nottingham Forest. At the time, Everton was three points below the relegation zone in the Premier League.
The following is what he had to say in response to the outcome: “Whenever I’m having a bad day, I just check the Everton score and smile.”
The Frenchman has made 32 appearances for the Toffees, but he has only managed to score one goal against them. Additionally, he spent the previous season on loan at his previous club, Brentford.
